KB2821895 Windows 8 x64 Update 06.11.2013 problem

After this update “sfc /scannow” gets stuck at 100% for about 6-7 minutes, and afterwards reports that there are corrupted files that it cannot fix and asks for reboot.

The situation with “sfc/scannow” repeats after restart. I checked it with three different machines. There are a lot of errors in CBS.log file.

We’re aware of an issue impacting some Windows 8 customers trying to run the sfc /scannow command after installing KB2821895, where customers using the System File Checker receive an error message that there are corrupt files and that the system requires a restart to repair the files. 

To work around this issue:

·         Open an elevated command window

·         Run the command dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth, and wait for this command to complete.

·         Run the sfc /scannow command again until the command completes and reports that there is no corruption. If you still get an error that there is corruption, you should contact technical support for further assistance as your system may have actual corruption.

    Files I have stored from original June 15, 2013 failure are in some cases 42MB(CBS log) and

    this page won't let me copy and paste that. This website becomes unresponsive.

    So here's list of what I saved on June 15, 2013, and the approximate size:

    2821895 update failure text message 991kb

    CBS log 41.5MB

    dism failure snip shot

    dism log 32kb

    sfc log details 32MB

    If you can tell me where to send, I will in lieu of reinstalling.

    Because I foresee Windows8 OS overrunning my 32GB disk shortly, will strap on my boots and:

    1. Make a restore point without 2821895
    2. Will run dism /online /cleanup-image  /scanhealth and do a snipping tool save of the results now

    before I update with 2821895

    1. will install just 2821895, run dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth as admin

    immediately thereafter

    1. and save all CBS log text files and post here
    2. and then run sfc /scannow (without restarting?) and post snipping tool save of results

    Would that produce useful results?

    Have I got the admin command prompts right?

    Please comment now on plan before I do it.
