HIGH disk usage Windows 8 Pro

It's been about 4 days since I've had this issue. My computer was running really slow, so I checked the Task Manager and saw that a "System" process was running under the name "ntoskrnl.exe". I thought it was a virus or a rootkit. I ran Windows Defender and nothing was detected. I just did a clean install of my operating system last night, and I'm checking my processes and the same issue is persisting.

I have an HP Pavilion m7 1015-dx.

If the problem is persisting like I think it is, can this be a hardware issue?

Ok guys , so I have a workaround solution for this issue ( except the defrag , the sfc/scannow command and all mentioned above . It is simple , fast and it helped at least 15 persons having this issue so far ... open the Charm bar , go to the Search field , type **View local services ,**go to the services and stop the BITS ( Background Intelligent Transfer Service ) service. After that just restart your PC and you are set .

It worked after Disabled the service of " Windows Search "!!!

Thanks for the tip "Right click the bottom left corner of the screen" I didn't know about that shortcut and I use it all the time now. A very useful and convenient feature.
