I recently bought a windows 8 laptop which used to access the internet fine for a few weeks but after a couple of updates it has stopped accessing the internet. Now i am getting NO NETWORK ACCESS with the yellow exclamation mark

When i tried troubleshooting, i got the response, "Wifi doesn't have a valid IP configuration". I have tried many of the suggestions that i have found on the forum like resetting TCP/IP stack with the netsh winsock reset catalogand netsh int ip reset reset.log hit  but this has not changed anything. please help me i am getting desperate here.

Hi Punnen,

I understand that you are facing issues with wireless network.

We appreciate your effort to resolve the issue. I suggest you to perform the following troubleshooting steps also and check if it helps.

The issue could be caused if there is a miss match in the IP address configuration.

Method 1:

Release and renew IP address for your computer:

a. Press Windows key + X and select “command prompt (admin)”.

b. Type ipconfig /release and hit Enter.

c. Then type ipconfig /renew and hit Enter.

d. Type Exit and hit Enter.

Method 2:

Follow the steps to manually assign IP address:

a. Open Network Connections by pressing Windows + X keys on the keyboard and select Control Panel. In the search box, type adapter, and then, under Network and Sharing Center, click View network connections.

b. Right-click the connection that you want to change, and then click Properties. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

c. Click the Networking tab. Under This connection uses the following items, click either Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) or **Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6),**and then click Properties.

d. To specify IPv4 IP address settings, do one of the following:

• To specify an IP address, click Use the following IP address, and then, in the IP address, Subnet mask, andDefault gateway boxes, type the IP address settings.

e. To specify IPv6 IP address settings, do one of the following:

• To specify an IP address, click Use the following IPv6 address, and then, in the IPv6 address, Subnet prefix length, and Default gateway boxes, type the IP address settings.

f. To specify DNS server address settings, do one of the following:

• To specify a DNS server address, click Use the following DNS server addresses, and then, in the Preferred DNS server and Alternate DNS server boxes, type the addresses of the primary and secondary DNS servers.

g. To change advanced DNS, WINS, and IP settings, click Advanced.

Method 3:

An automated troubleshooter is a tool that can find and automatically fix some problems with your computer. These troubleshooters aren't designed to fix every problem, but they're a useful tool to try because they can often save you time and effort.

Run the Network Troubleshooter from the link:

Wired and wireless network problems:

This should resolve the issue.

If you face any issues related to Windows feel free to contact us and we will be happy to help you.

I've tried literally everything suggested on every forum posting about this issue I can find.

I have done the ip config /release and /renew, nada

I have removed and reinstalled the wifi adapter driver, nada

I have tried to connect through an ethernet cable, and got the very same error, so I went through multiple troubleshooting steps for that, nada

I tried removing some "Bonjour" thing through the Windows Firewall, nada

I am house/pet sitting, so I don't have the ability to do anything but unplug the router, wait, plug it back in, yadda yadda. That's not working, either.

I am also unable to connect to the wifi on my smartphone.  I've had sporadic problems with the Wifi adapter on this laptop on multiple Wifi networks, but they're usually fixed right away with running the troubleshooter and letting it reset the Wifi adapter, and in the meantime, I'm able to rely on my phone's Wifi connection to keep doing what I'm doing. This time, the wifi/internet stopped working all of a sudden, and I can't even get my phone to connect.

Is it possible to get this error when Comcast is down?

I have a similar issue, but your "method 1" instructions returned memos that

actions could not be completed on a series of devices "...while it has its media disconnected...."  Those devices were listed as:

      VPN99

      Ethernet

      Wi-Fi

      Local Area Connection 10

      Bluetooth Connection 2

    Please advise soonest.

    Thx.

Could Microsoft just fix the problem that causes this? It was the Windows 10 update when this began, and you forced this on us. I've spent an hour just today running the troubleshooter and it still hasn't worked. You broke my machine.
