windows 8, error occured while capturing your pin

I have installed windows 8 pro on my laptop but i am unable to create pin password  or picture password. while creating pin password it gives error message  Error occurred while capturing your pin , please try again later and while creating picture password it gives error message enrolement faillure. Problem persist even after creating other account/local account. Please help. I have already paid Rs.2000 for this windows 8, please solve my problem

Well, finally found the solution after 3 days of research.

Credential Manager Service was disabled.

  1. Go to RUN (Win Key + R)
  2. Type services.msc
  3. Scroll down to Credential Mnager Service
  4. Right click and go to properties and change the StartUp type to Automatic
  5. Start the service

Now you should be able to change/create the pin. Reply back if problem persist.

Hi Jeff,

Sorry for late response.

From the above replies I understand that you tried all the suggestions mentioned in previous replies and none worked. This issue may occur due to Windows image corruption, if the Windows image is corrupted we can restore the Windows image using DISM (Deployment Image Servicing and Management) tool. Follow the steps mentioned in the link below (under Resolution topic) and Check if it helps.

Thank you for the response. Sorry for the later reply.

If you haven't tried to change PIN by creating new user account, please try to create a new user account and try to change the PIN.

To create user account in Window 8 you can refer the link below.

    I see that you are unable to create pin password  or picture password on Windows 8 computer.

    I understand it must be frustrating, but rest assured, we are here to help you and guide you in the right direction.

    Help me with more information.

    1.      Are you using the latest version of the video driver as supplied by the computer's manufacturer? (If not, then I would recommend going to their website and downloading it.)

    2.      Is the computer connected to any network?(Domain for example)

    3.      Were you able to setup pin password earlier?

    Refer to the help articles and check if it helps.

    Why can't I create a picture password?

    have the same problem : new ultrabook with windows 8. first 6 days pin acces was working but two days ago I could not enter using  pin acces. I have to use full password to sign in. Since then ... same message : error capturing pin , try later !! windows bug?

    same help , pls ?
