windows 8, error occured while capturing your pin

I have installed windows 8 pro on my laptop but i am unable to create pin password  or picture password. while creating pin password it gives error message  Error occurred while capturing your pin , please try again later and while creating picture password it gives error message enrolement faillure. Problem persist even after creating other account/local account. Please help. I have already paid Rs.2000 for this windows 8, please solve my problem

Well, finally found the solution after 3 days of research.

Credential Manager Service was disabled.

  1. Go to RUN (Win Key + R)
  2. Type services.msc
  3. Scroll down to Credential Mnager Service
  4. Right click and go to properties and change the StartUp type to Automatic
  5. Start the service

Now you should be able to change/create the pin. Reply back if problem persist.

Sorry for late response.

From the above replies I understand that you tried all the suggestions mentioned in previous replies and none worked. This issue may occur due to Windows image corruption, if the Windows image is corrupted we can restore the Windows image using DISM (Deployment Image Servicing and Management) tool. Follow the steps mentioned in the link below (under Resolution topic) and Check if it helps.

Thank you for the response. Sorry for the later reply.

If you haven't tried to change PIN by creating new user account, please try to create a new user account and try to change the PIN.

To create user account in Window 8 you can refer the link below.

    have the same problem : new ultrabook with windows 8. first 6 days pin acces was working but two days ago I could not enter using  pin acces. I have to use full password to sign in. Since then ... same message : error capturing pin , try later !! windows bug?

    This is happening to me right now.

    Just yesterday PIN login was working fine, and today when I turned my PC and typed my PIN it didn't start, but sent me to a screen with only my user photo and when I clicked on it it sent me back to the login screen.. Windows only started after I entered my microsoft account password and now I can't create pin account anymore.

    PIN sign-in problem solved - at least, for this issue. 

    Windows 8.1 Pro with latest updates. 

    The problem:

    Unable to use PIN sign-in as alternative to the full Microsoft Account password 

    (PIN is particularly useful when resuming from short screensaver timeouts eg during phone calls)

    What one sees:

    in [Charms] Settings / Change PC settings / Accounts / Sign-in options 

    'Picture password'  'Pin' and  'Password policy' are all greyed out and inactive. 

    PIN is therefore not offered as an option when signing in.

    Solution: 

    in Control Panel\User Accounts and Family Safety\User Accounts

    (page entitled 'Make changes to your user account') 

    select 'Reset Security Policies'

    Note: 

    This option is the last one on the list on the left of the User Accountspage 

    (below 'Change my environment variables') 

    Naturally that will not work if the 'Reset Security Policies' option is not displayed or 

    if other actions are required,  like enabling PIN password in Local Computer Policy {gpedit.msc}, 

    Credential Manager Service  etc.

    Result: 

     Having clicked on 'Reset Security Policies' I went straight back to Settings... Sign-in options

     'Pin' etc were no longer greyed out, and worked as they should.
