MSVCP100.dll Missing.

I upgraded from W8.1 to W10. Some programmes didn't start because of the missing MSVCP100.dll  and MSVCR100.dll file. But they exist on the Windows folder. So they where not missing at all.

Installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 didn't help for me. I found out that some users installed Itunes again. With successful results. I do no use Itunes, so I installed the latest version of Adobe Reader (that has nothing to do with the problem, the 'previous' Adobe reader worked perfect). After the installation of the latest version, the other programes worked fine then. Seems that the installation activated the .dll files again.

The crazy thing about this is that it didn't start immediately after Win 10 installation. The problem actually started a day later. Of course the file was actually exactly where it should have been in the system32 folder.

I was at my wit's end and in desperation downloaded Microsoft Visual Studio Community 2015. It took over an hour to download and install, but afterward everything worked again.  I have to wonder if Microsoft actually tested this operation system outside a development environment. I wonder if I can now uninstall the development environment since I am not a software developer.

I am well informed that Windows 10 was BETA Tested by their user professionals for some 6 months before it was launched, The problem is that they were ALL working on Clean Installations, no upgrades, so Microsoft failed to find these upgrade incompatibilities. Through shear perseverance I found my problem and no doubt many others also.

WORKED FOR ME TOO!! If sb migrating from Win8.1 to Win10 and have this problem with any program, IT WILL WORK! Thank you for this helpful answer!!
