the MTP USB Device driver doesn't install. I cannot connect external devices such as the Samsung Galaxy. I tried multiple uninstall and re-install, no solution

i tried many of the ways suggested in many forums, nothing worked. actually when i forst connected te Galaxy it worked for a few days, then it stopped. My company ha installed on my PC System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection; however it was there even when i was able to connect.  i tird also the ipad and i get the same error.

the solution offered to my previous request on the same issue by Rob Thomas596 strictly refers to Apple products and i can't use it for the Galaxy

Run command prompt as administrator and run the following command:

net localgroup Administrators local service /add

That is what fixed my problem after searching everywhere

    Thanks for the reply. None of this worked for me. My issue is with my digital cameras, one Canon one Nikon. Prior to today they were connecting fine via a USB lead direct from the cameras. Now in Device Manager they both show an exclamation mark. If I try to auto load the driver I get ‘MTP USB driver did not initialise’. If I load manually from the exising driver on the HDD it loads fine and the cameras connect. If then I turn off the PC the driver does not load when it boot-up and I’m back to square-one. Other USB devices, SD card reader and printer, work fine.

    UPDATE: SOLVED!

    After a brief visit to Blackviper's site (www.blackviper.com) I checked what SERVICES should (must!) be running, and found WUDFSVC (Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework)  was in a stopped condition. This should NEVER be stopped! (according to the info in services). Starting this service solved my problem.

    Addendum:

    I found that in the registry something was setting the WUDFSVC to start manually. This service needs to be automatic start-up in SERVICES. Just entering Automatic failed to save the start item. I had to go into Regedit and find the WUDFSVC 'start' entries and alter to '2' (set to automatic). They were all showing '3' (set to manual).

    1. have you tried samsung galaxy in other systems  , is it working ?
    2. while installing what error messages you getting ?
    3. have you enabled some necessary services from services.msc menu

      to do this ,  type SERVICES.MSC  in run command and enter

      then find     

    Application experience

    Application Identity

    Application management

    Human interface device access

    plug and play

    shell hardware detection

    UPnP  device host

    windows installer

    windows modules installer

    and select properties , make it automatic startup mode and restart system

    1. install and install latest chipset driver to wndows os , from motherboard website
    2. enables  usb controllers and usb ports in BIOS setting

    I also have had this problem over the last few days (19 March 2013). What I can do to temporarily resolve the problem is manually install MTP USB (from device manager) the devices then work. However if I re-boot the problem - no portable device connectivity

    • returns. I believe that MTP USB is not being initiallised on boot-up. Is there somewhere in SERVICES that sets the initiallisation of MTP USB? Maybe it's set DISABLED?

    This problem has only arisen since the large Win 7 auto download that happened this week (?)

    At one point I restored to a point before the download and the system worked fine. The download then loaded again and....voila! No MTP USB....

    hi,

     do u have itunes installed in your PC? if so try updating the itunes to the newer release version or u can uninstall it and install again later via downloading from apple website.

    i found that not updating itunes makes ur PC dont recognize hardware.

    It cant hurt to give a try. Let me know if it helps.
