Windows 8 "refresh" removed applications

Why did Windows 8 "Refresh" remove about 30 applcations from my PC?  Outlook is gone, as is Excel and Word.  I did a upgrade from 7 on one of my PC's and the new system had not even been operating long enough to create a "Restore" point.

Hi Rodgerr,

I can imagine how frustrating it could be when most of the applications have been removed on the computer.

Since, you have refreshed the PC; all the applications installed will be removed.

The apps that came with your PC or you installed from Windows Store will be reinstalled, but any apps you installed from other websites and DVDs will be removed. You'll find a list of the removed apps on your desktop after refreshing your PC.

I would recommend you to reinstall all the applications on windows 8 to work.

    SO SET UP A ROUTINE BACKUP SCHEDULE!!!!!!

    WHICH IS WHAT YOU SHOULD BE DOING ANYWAY.

    Just because it said that your files wouldn't change, doesn't mean that it's not YOUR responsibility to make backups before performing major system operations.

    If you have GMail then your mails are STILL ON THE GMAIL SERVER.

    And if you "re-install" windows, then OF COURSE YOU HAVE TO RE-INSTALL ALL UPDATES. That's how it's ALWAYS been.

    I don't ever write on community forums but Gordon B-P you've honestly spent more time being an **** towards people than you have helping them out. I like other people am having issues with my computer but I came here to see if my programs would be uninstalled because an program or app is something I have installed and use which does make it a personal file.

I like other people am having issues with my computer but I came here to see if my programs would be uninstalled because an program or app is something I have installed and use which does make it a personal file.

    I suggest that you don't start slagging off long-time members of this site when you've only been a member yourself for ONE HOUR.

    Most problems in this forum are caused by Users not the software - like having NO BACKUPS.
