Windows 8 "refresh" removed applications

I can imagine how frustrating it could be when most of the applications have been removed on the computer.

Since, you have refreshed the PC; all the applications installed will be removed.

The apps that came with your PC or you installed from Windows Store will be reinstalled, but any apps you installed from other websites and DVDs will be removed. You'll find a list of the removed apps on your desktop after refreshing your PC.

I would recommend you to reinstall all the applications on windows 8 to work.

WHY in God's -or Bill's -name would YOU possibly wish to know ANYTHING?? The so-called "help" here is insufficient and mostly worthless. The (including you) experts?? have the same reply to each and every question asked-Win 8 is a nightmare and I have been trying to use it for almost 2 years. If I could afford a Mac, I'd leave MS in a heartbeat. I have lost, re-installed, lost again so many apps and information with this system that at this point, I'm ready to throw the damn computer out the window. What's worse is the fact that MS is NOW trying to force all who have the god-awful 8 to "upgrade" to 8.1 in order to receive ANY help! I am truly disgusted. I hope-but won't bet-my post is printed. If it happens, I hope someone who knows anything at all about this OS will reply. Of course, now that ALL my apps, etc., have been lost-who knows? Happy no-Windows year to all.  Everyone buy a mac-or anything except this piece of junk.

I learned that since the beginning of Windows 8, and I found it very stupid. Refresh it would be expected to be somehow an upgrade to Restore, but basically, it is just like the out the box experience with the difference of keeping files. I would expect Refresh to refresh the registers, and all system files, leaving apps and files untouched.

Manjunath Siddappa,  when the Microsoft's makes a statement like "Refresh your PC without affecting your files" then it should not remove any of the user installed programs.  If this doesn't happen then it should be made clear to the user saying "All the custom installed programs will be removed."  Because it happened to me twice, once I did this in Windows 8 and next time 8.1 and I lost all of my custom installed programs which is really a stupid approach from Microsoft.

Which bit of "will remove all apps installed from disk or web" are you having trouble with?

And BTW, "Files" means "data" not programs.
