Windows 8 "refresh" removed applications

Why did Windows 8 "Refresh" remove about 30 applcations from my PC?  Outlook is gone, as is Excel and Word.  I did a upgrade from 7 on one of my PC's and the new system had not even been operating long enough to create a "Restore" point.

Hi Rodgerr,

I can imagine how frustrating it could be when most of the applications have been removed on the computer.

Since, you have refreshed the PC; all the applications installed will be removed.

The apps that came with your PC or you installed from Windows Store will be reinstalled, but any apps you installed from other websites and DVDs will be removed. You'll find a list of the removed apps on your desktop after refreshing your PC.

I would recommend you to reinstall all the applications on windows 8 to work.

    SO SET UP A ROUTINE BACKUP SCHEDULE!!!!!!

    WHICH IS WHAT YOU SHOULD BE DOING ANYWAY.

    Just because it said that your files wouldn't change, doesn't mean that it's not YOUR responsibility to make backups before performing major system operations.

    If you have GMail then your mails are STILL ON THE GMAIL SERVER.

    And if you "re-install" windows, then OF COURSE YOU HAVE TO RE-INSTALL ALL UPDATES. That's how it's ALWAYS been.

    TO SAY I'm p##$###-OFF IS GROSSLY UNDERSTATING IT!

    IT SAID IT WOULDN'T ALTER MY FILES,... HENCE I DIDN'T BACKUP AAL MY EMAILS ETC!!!

    NOW ALL MY EMAILS ARE GONE, AS THIS WAS THE SETTING I CHOSE ON GMAIL!!!!!

    AND AFTER THE "REFRESH" / BLODDY REMOVE AAL YOUR **** AND CHUCK A NEW SYSTEM IN THERE,... ALL MY PROGRAMS HAVE BEEN UNINSTALLED,... AFTER DAYS AND DAYS WORTH OF FREAKING WINDOWS UPDATES!!!!!!!!

    I SUGGEST YOU RENAME THE FUNCTION GUYS!!!! SERIOUSLY!

    So you need to re-install from the original install media, whether that be disk or download...

    why can't mocrosoft just tell me how to reinstall any of the apps that were remved during a refresh . all I get is stupid answers how to do the refresh and here's a clue...if I want to know how to restore my removed apps after a refresh I ALREADY DID A REFRESH!!!!
