Lumia 1020 Camera Won't Hold Focus

When using my 1020, I hold the shutter button halfway down to let it autofocus. It proceeds to do so briefly, but as I push the button, it loses focus and results in blurry photos. The manual focus does a little better. If I tap to focus, I can usually get the focus I want after 10 or so tries. This issue comes up at any focal distance.

Is the camera broken?

Thanks.

I only got my phone on Friday and the camera has never focused at all. I am so disappointed with paying so much money and it not working. The camera works when you take a selfie but not when you are looking at the screen. I have followed all instructions and reset the camera as well. Not at all happy when the camera was the main reason for updating to this phone.

    Please help urgently.

My camera does not focus at all - auto or manual.  Is there a fix for this or do I need to return?

Same here! Been using the 1020 for 3 months & love the camera- have even blown up prints from it to 24 x 18 inches!

Suddenly this morning I discover it won't focus automatically or manually- it searches for a focus when screen is tapped or shutter button partially epressed, but won't capture a focus- you can see it hunt for a focus & pass through a sharp focus but won't lock on. How frustrating!

The cam seems OK only close in, as close as 12cm, so I can use it for macro.... All other camera apps show the same problem.

The app is up-to date- version 4.5.1.7

I suspect it's a hardware problem, and I may be in trouble as I didn't buy the phone in Kenya where I live, so no apparently |I've warrantee here!

I doubt very much if a factory reset will do any more than cause me unessary aggro.

Help? I've stuck to Nokias as my primary phone since the mid ,90s & this is the first defective one for me.

As written in many other webforums stocking focus in nearfield seems to be hardware related problem. Many users posted that this issue was solved in repair. So you should contact a service point near you or send your phone for repair.
