That would defeat the purpose of the button?
Lumia 1020 Camera Won't Hold Focus
When using my 1020, I hold the shutter button halfway down to let it autofocus. It proceeds to do so briefly, but as I push the button, it loses focus and results in blurry photos. The manual focus does a little better. If I tap to focus, I can usually get the focus I want after 10 or so tries. This issue comes up at any focal distance.
Is the camera broken?
Thanks.

2013-12-10T18:37:00+00:00 I am having the same issue with the camera not being able to focus. I got mine from the Microsoft store shortly after release. I like to take pictures of things like receipts, papers, and membership cards so I don't have to carry them. I quickly realized that the camera can not be too close but with the zoom there wasn't any problems. BTW at the time I was using the Pro app.
That app updated twice and I went to try to take another picture of a card and it came out all blurry. I tried manual focus and it didn't seem to be doing anything. I restarted the phone several times and tried both orientations. Then I found its actually worse than close photos, it doesn't seem to be focusing at all. Usually I can take amazing photos and zoom, but now they are fuzzy and get really bad even with the least bit of zoom.
Bought the phone straight up just for the camera and I wasn't able to really use it for the ACC championship game or the BCS game coming up :(

2013-12-10T18:39:39+00:00 I also tried using the screen, button, and camera grip. Nothing seems to be working. I was able to take macro pictures before. I used it to take a cool picture of a bee on a flower.

2013-12-14T04:38:32+00:00 Sorry for the rant. Perhaps the issue is in software because the camera attempts to focus it just doesn't hold. I also tried the Blink app and its doing the same thing as the pro app.
