Lumia 1020 Camera Won't Hold Focus

When using my 1020, I hold the shutter button halfway down to let it autofocus. It proceeds to do so briefly, but as I push the button, it loses focus and results in blurry photos. The manual focus does a little better. If I tap to focus, I can usually get the focus I want after 10 or so tries. This issue comes up at any focal distance.

Is the camera broken?

    That's not the issue. The issue is that the phone pulls sharp focus, then when the picture is taken the sharp focus miraculously isn't sharp focus anymore. It may be a post processing/jpeg conversion thing. I think it is better on my phone than it was. Sometimes the autofocus just refuses to lock, but the new Nokia Phone app with manual focus should take care of that. This is on a 920.

    My phone will not focus clearly at a 15 cm distance - or any other relatively short distance - unless I change the settings in my Nokia camera app to manual and then focus the object. Scanner and barcode apps are useless and won't focus at all.  As others have said, at a ranges of greater than 2 or 3 ft, the auto focus appears to focus and then loses focus when snapping the picture.  I would appreciate a response to this issue.

    I drove way out of town for my Nokia N95(first ever super phone). Next, N86, N8, 808($900 online). All worked brilliantly. My new 1020 is a huge disappointment. Every picture is blurry and grainy.

    Update is desperately needed. First Nokia I do not recommend or praise.

    As I have posted above, my 1020 would neither focus at a close distance nor keep a focus after pressing the 'shutter' button.  I decided to bring it my ATT wireless care center.  They concluded (after reflashing the phone) that it was defective.  I received a new 1020 yesteday.  Restored the phone with my settings and apps and tested it---works flawlessly!!  Used the new camscanner app and was able to focus to the 15cm distance mentioned elsewhere in the posts.  I wish it were otherwise, but this seems to be the safest course to fix the problem--partiuclarly since everyone should still be under warranty.

    I have the exact problem with the quick preview was sharp but when I enter the edit, it just turns blurry. Worst thing is my battery life, the phone just couldn't last for more than 10 hours with minimal usage. I'm so frustrated with always want to monitoring on the battery percentage. Very very disappointed with this 1020. I switch from android and get bad experience. :(
