Lumia 1020 Camera Won't Hold Focus

When using my 1020, I hold the shutter button halfway down to let it autofocus. It proceeds to do so briefly, but as I push the button, it loses focus and results in blurry photos. The manual focus does a little better. If I tap to focus, I can usually get the focus I want after 10 or so tries. This issue comes up at any focal distance.

Is the camera broken?

    There must be thousands of people with this problem. The phone was not cheap. When is a law firm going to take this on as a class action suit?

    I cannot understand how Microsoft has ignored this problem and its customers.

    Hi Craig,

    I know this is an older post, but was hoping I could get whatever FIX you have for this problem.

    I've been dealing with it for well over a year, and keep hoping that an update will be sent to fix the problem. Originally was told it was a hardware problem (already out of warranty), and later a software problem (as it seemed to have begun around the time I upgraded to 8.1).

    I love my phone otherwise, but I bought the 1020 for the camera ... which is barely usable.

    Is this what 'planned obsolescence' feels like?

    My only 'solution' was to change the phone for a 950XL. Camera so far is stable and pretty much as good as the 1020.

    Thanks Clare.  I was hoping to avoid that until the phone died itself.  :)  Glad to know that the 950XL is good.  

    But, although I love the MS OS, missing out on a lot of apps that I can't use on my phone (business apps) ... I may be finally forced to the dark side and an android or apple.  Ugh.  Which also means switching the older adults in my family - and educating all of us on the new OS.  When the folks are in their 70s ... MS is nice and easy for them.  I have been holding off on that and trying to make an android tablet handle the business side of things - but if I end up getting a new phone ... <sigh>
