Lumia 1020 Camera Won't Hold Focus

When using my 1020, I hold the shutter button halfway down to let it autofocus. It proceeds to do so briefly, but as I push the button, it loses focus and results in blurry photos. The manual focus does a little better. If I tap to focus, I can usually get the focus I want after 10 or so tries. This issue comes up at any focal distance.

Is the camera broken?

Thanks.

I have the same issue. At close range the camera does focus correctly but when the picture is taken it's extremely blurry. I can focus between objects fine at farther ranges.

My HTC one has no issues at close range. If I do a manual focus it focuses alright but why is autofocus broken? This phone is a day old. I have the windows 8.1 update on it, never tested on Windows 8 mobile.

    Darn :(

Too bad... I'll take it in today. It's unfortunate that they don't address this when answering questions on here, or on their website as a product issue that people should take in to get fixed...

    Hi evreyone,

I bought a mobile phone Nokia Lumia 1520 from Morocco

This is four weeks I noticed a problem at the focus of the camera is not operational all the time which leads to blurred pictures.

I address myself to the SAV for 2 weeks but they still see that there is no problem on the phone, i always show them the problem with the mobile a live but they still ignore what i am talking about

I could not get to join the direteur of Sicotel, how represent the nokia Mobile in Morocco but in vain

The SAV had already update the software but the problem still here.

with about 685 euro i have a device with a problem and an SAV= 0

    Really it's a shame

Thanks a lot for any help

I guess we sit & wait for Nokia to fix this serious focusing flaw... Have you ever wondered how they managed to take all good nice big clear shots in their launch videos everywhere and on youtube. Yet we, the paying customers , can mostly take diabolical ones ???

I have had so many Nokias since my first Nokia 3100. and the 1020 is the biggest disappointment because of the camera.... I only upgraded from 808 pureview because symbian is dead ( 808 took far better pictures..), else I wont have bothered. My next phone after this is definitely iPhone  no focusing or any issues at all !.. bye bye Nokia ... How can you advertise all all the beautiful features and perfect photos this camera can take, and the reality is far from the minimum standard ?? 5mp Photos come out poor and not sharp, 41MP is a total  waste of space. Take 100 best shots and the best one in 41MP will be grainy and as blurr !!  This Zoom after shot concept is really the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. It really is 'pick which blurrest area in the photo to crop' .. Im not joking. use the 5mp so you will notice the blurr a little less.. this is serious !

I hope this will help any new comers to decide before thinking of buying a 1020. Just DONT bother  !

If we have to send a brand new phone to Nokia centres due to focusing or any issues for thin at matter, then the product is substandard and should not have been released .. period.
