Lumia 1020 Camera Won't Hold Focus

When using my 1020, I hold the shutter button halfway down to let it autofocus. It proceeds to do so briefly, but as I push the button, it loses focus and results in blurry photos. The manual focus does a little better. If I tap to focus, I can usually get the focus I want after 10 or so tries. This issue comes up at any focal distance.

Is the camera broken?

    hi, I have a similar issue that I have just recently have with my 1020, I am not sure if it is the focus, but I have had the camera stall the phone at least 3x, now when I take a camera pro picture, everytime I review the picture, it would be of good clarity for a sec when the picture displays, then it will "adjust" the picture to a blurrier version and usually more yellow tinged as well. I only had the phone for 5 days, the problem is I bought it in the US while I am currently residing in Indonesia, (no contract) could you tell me what is wrong with my camera and if there is a problem, how would I go about getting it fixed?

    Hey there Craig. I am a die hard Microsoft loyalist who requested help with this issue months ago. Due to your inability to support me with this issue, I have chosen to purchase the brand new Samsung Galaxy Edge Plus. This is also due to the fact that there are no carriers in Canada who support the new Lumia 950. It is a shame as I very much adore the Microsoft platform but am sick of this phone having so many photographic issues.you guys are going to really have to make it up to me to switch back. Cheers

    I like your logic AmishJhaveri.  I certainly agree that the camera appears to want to focus on a near object.  However, I am not convinced about the dirt as the only cause because it definitely is a lot more likely to happen when the phone is warm and will then have corrected once the phone has cooled down again, which would not be the case I suspect if it was just  caused by a dirty lens?  I will nevertheless make sure that at least the outside of the lens is clean. as this is always exposed even when the phone is in its case.

    hi, i believe the focus works as designed and is no hardware issue - my 1020 behaces the same wayfor macro shots i often use the on screen focus

    the post processing which adjusts the pic is often discussed and is also no hardware issue since many users have the same problem
