Messaging App in Windows 8 showing duplicate outgoing messages

Lately, the messaging app in Windows 8 has been malfunctioning.  When I send an outgoing message, the original message pops up at the bottom like normal, but it is quickly followed by a duplicate of the same message directly underneath it.  What's going on?

    I just turned off my facebook chat in the browser and it fixed the duplicate issue. :)

    How come i don't receive the message that my friend sends to me if her Facebook Chat is turned OFF... 

    She is sending through Facebook Messenger "NOT" Facebook Chat to send the message, and as long as her Chat is turned OFFthen i don't receive the message....

    but if she turns her Facebook Chat ON (and sends the message throughFacebook Messenger) then i get the message....

    (by the way, i am using Messaging for Windows 8 Application)

    I'm also experiencing this problem, it's extremely annoying as every time I send a message the client just repeats the message

    Same thing here. This also happened with Skype. We should be worrying about whether turning on or off the chat in Facebook.

    @Microsoft, DO SOMETHING.
