Messaging App in Windows 8 showing duplicate outgoing messages

Lately, the messaging app in Windows 8 has been malfunctioning.  When I send an outgoing message, the original message pops up at the bottom like normal, but it is quickly followed by a duplicate of the same message directly underneath it.  What's going on?

    that happen to me also; and my opinion in this bug is when you send message to Facebook contact first it popup to the chat and send to Facebook message then when app flush the messages from Facebook it seem to be found new message and get it again so message appear to be duplicated

    Delete your facebook browser cookies.

    Deleting the browser Cookies does not work....

    yes it will because in messaging app (windows 8) there are two account syncing at the same time one is your microsoft account and second is facebook (if you add facebook account to the app). but don't worry the message deliver only one time to the other side.

    For your information the messaging App has bee replaced by Skype in Windows 8.1 and probably only a question of time before it is removed in Windows 8. Hope this helps and if you need any further assistance post and we will be glad to help you.
