I used it today and it works fine now! Now duplicates at all. Did not make any changes on Facebook or anything. Is this now sorted?

Lately, the messaging app in Windows 8 has been malfunctioning. When I send an outgoing message, the original message pops up at the bottom like normal, but it is quickly followed by a duplicate of the same message directly underneath it. What's going on?

2013-07-03T23:12:36+00:00 I can confirm this fixed the issue for me too. Just turn off Facebook chat on the Facebook website via your web browser.

2013-07-01T17:39:03+00:00 Well, I was getting duplicate messages in Skype too, so it's still going to be an issue.
My understanding is the error is on the FB side, they're updating the backend service and APIs, so Microsoft and others are playing catchup to Facebook's rapid changes.

2013-07-01T12:06:02+00:00 Well, if any of you installed W8.1 Preview, then you know the messaging app problem we are all having is no longer an issue. The Messaging app is no longer available. :(
Yeah, apparently it is going to be dropped and replaced with built-in Skype (hopefully including Facebook chat so we still don't have to actually go into Facebook lol)
