Messaging App in Windows 8 showing duplicate outgoing messages

Lately, the messaging app in Windows 8 has been malfunctioning.  When I send an outgoing message, the original message pops up at the bottom like normal, but it is quickly followed by a duplicate of the same message directly underneath it.  What's going on?

    Same issue.

    Could it have something to do with the double responding Facebook service: the messages pop-up in Messages at the same time as in Chat?

    I have this issue. It might have started happening after I installed facebook messenger.

    Im Still having this issue. Don't know what to due, should I reinstall winodows 8 messaging app?

    Same issue. Seems as if its just the app showing the duplicates but they dont appear so to the recieving person... Also seems to be facebook related and I have been using my Android phone for facebook messages too from time to time... Not sure what actually triggered it or how to get rid of it...
