The title pretty much sums up my issue. I have never been able to access it since I upgraded, so I'm not sure where something went wrong. I don't really know how to go about fixing this issue, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi Ben,

I will certainly help you with this issue.

1.      What happens while you try to access windows store?

2.      Are you getting any error code or error message? If yes, what is the complete error message?

3.      Are you using a Microsoft account or local account?

Let’s follow these methods and check if it helps.

**Method 1:**Check if the date, time and time zone are set according to your time and time zone.

Follow these steps to set the date and time:

a. Press Windows key + C on your keyboard to show the Charms bar.

b. Type “Date and Time” in the charms bar search.

c. Click Change date and time button (To change the time zone click on time zone tab).

d. Click Apply and Ok to save the date and time.

Method 2: Clear the store cache and check.

a. Press "Windows key + R".

b. Type wsreset.exe and click OK.

Method 3: Disable the proxy server and check.

a. Open Internet Explorer ****b. Click Tools and then click Internet Options. ****c. Then click the Connections tab.

d. Then click the LAN Settings button.

e. Then Uncheck the option which reads” Use a proxy server for your LAN” ****f. Click apply and then ok.

Method 4: Perform clean boot and check.

a) Press the ‘Windows + R’ key on the keyboard.

b) In the ‘Run’ windows type ’MSCONFIG’ and click ‘Ok’.

c) On the ‘General’ tab, click to select the option ‘Selective startup’, and then click to clear the option Load startup items check box.

d) On the ‘Services’ tab, click to select the ‘Hide all Microsoft services’ check box, and then click ‘Disable all’.

e) On the ‘Startup’ tab, click ‘**Open Task Manager’.**In the Task Manager window under startup tab, right click on each startup item which are enabled and select ‘**Disable’.**f) Click ‘OK’, and then click Restart.

I would suggest you to follow the step 2 from the following article to determine what is causing the problem.

How to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After you have finished troubleshooting, follow the step 3 to reset the computer to start as usual.

Method 5: Download and run the app troubleshooter and check.

Thank you.

I have also had this problem for a few weeks and tried all the suggestions in the forums.  I then noticed that store broker was using a lot of cpu and found this solution

STORE BROKER (WSHOST.EXE) CONSUME A LARGE AMOUNT OF CPU

by ADMIN on MARCH 30, 2014 in OSUNCATEGORIZEDWINDOWS with 9 COMMENTS

Store Broker (wshost.exe)  is a Microsoft process and should not consume more than 1% of CPU. After installing Windows it consume a low ammount of CPU but after that you install application Store Broker (wshost.exe process) may take a large ammount of CPU, so I will try to give you a trick to solve this problem.

WHY CAUSE STORE BROKER HIGHT CPU USSAGE?

The process look like:

![](http://howtofix.pro/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/store-broker-high-cpu-usage.jpg)

Usually problem is caused by:

  • after installing some applications;
  • maybe Kaspersky Antivirus???

HOW TO FIX HIGH CPU USAGE BY STORE BROKER:

Open Task Manager (CTRL + Shift + ESC) >> Go to Processes tab and then kill StoreandStore Brokersprocesses:

  1. Right-Click on Store process >> End Task;
  2. Right-Click on Store Brokers >> End Task;

Then you have to go to:

C:\Users\(Your User Account)\AppData\Local\Packages\WinStore_xxxxxxxxxxxxx\LocalState

xxxxxxxxxxxxx = a random string – it is different to another pc;

  1. Rename folder called Cache into CacheOld.
  2. Create an empty folder with name Cache

That’s all. If you want to revert changes just delete Cache and Rename CacheOld into Cache.

CONCLUSIONS:

This method to resolve Store Broker (wshost.exe) high CPU usage will not affect in any way Store or installing and using application from Windows 8 Store.

PS: Tested on windows 8.1 but should work on any other version like Windows 8.

PS2: Credits to google, microsoft forums;

Now my store works fine.

It's something fonts related.

Coincidentally someone else has just claimed that registering actxprxy.dll  is a fix...

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w8itprogeneral/thread/9ba1bd2a-6c5f-4839-bbd7-e5714ce702c0#a59d517c-5059-4cfc-b657-f96fac432cbc

Also claimed that there was a duplicate post here but I couldn't find it (not that that would be conclusive proof that it doesn't exist).

FYI

    Okay Microsoft, this is just ridiculous. I asked this question a MONTH ago, and I still have no satisfactory answer. There are tons of people having this problem, and there is not an acceptable solution on any thread I have seen (and I've read through a great deal of them). Someone who knows what they are doing needs to get their act together and help out. This is a system breaking issue, and makes the upgrade to windows 8 at best useless and at worst incredibly detrimental. Companies should not be able to get away with this kind of terrible service.

    Amen, Ben!

    Following the steps that everyone keeps throwing out DO NOT WORK!!!  One of Microsoft's Programmers involved with Windows 8 needs to change there focus for a day & get a fix to this situation!

    My Take:

    It all seems to be tied to upgrading from Win7 to Win8, that is for sure!  Been fighting with this for months now!!!  The 2 systems I did full clean installs on are both fine, the one system (my main workstation with tons of apps) is the only one I did the upgrade from Win7-64bit on, that has issues.

    And one of the working systems has Avast AV Free on it (always did) & it has no problems with the Store!

    To me "Refresh or Reset" is a totally unacceptable answer!!!  I do not want to have to go back & reinstall all of my Applications (that is downright ridiculous).  I want to look at pushing my clients towards doing this upgrade, but it is NOT an upgrade if you have to reinstall all of your apps!?!

    I tried some tom-foolery, like copying store folder & registry settings from a working system to failing system, but nothing seems to get it past that silly License message I see when I run wsreset form an administrator command prompt (and is showing up in the event viewer on each run attempt)...

    You do not need a Windows Live Account to use the Store, I login to my PCs with my Domain Login & the Store runs fine on those machines that are working!  The non-working PC is setup exactly the same only difference is it was an upgrade from Win7 Ultimate to Win8 Pro!!

    Microsoft get it together & get a fix to this OVER-WHELMING Problem!!!

    quote quote : It all seems to be tied to upgrading from Win7 to Win8, that is for sure!

    Not quite ! My system is not an upgrade, but a clean install using dual boot, which preserves my Windows 7 .

    I tried All solutions proposed in this thread, no go !
