The title pretty much sums up my issue. I have never been able to access it since I upgraded, so I'm not sure where something went wrong. I don't really know how to go about fixing this issue, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi Ben,

I will certainly help you with this issue.

1.      What happens while you try to access windows store?

2.      Are you getting any error code or error message? If yes, what is the complete error message?

3.      Are you using a Microsoft account or local account?

Let’s follow these methods and check if it helps.

**Method 1:**Check if the date, time and time zone are set according to your time and time zone.

Follow these steps to set the date and time:

a. Press Windows key + C on your keyboard to show the Charms bar.

b. Type “Date and Time” in the charms bar search.

c. Click Change date and time button (To change the time zone click on time zone tab).

d. Click Apply and Ok to save the date and time.

Method 2: Clear the store cache and check.

a. Press "Windows key + R".

b. Type wsreset.exe and click OK.

Method 3: Disable the proxy server and check.

a. Open Internet Explorer ****b. Click Tools and then click Internet Options. ****c. Then click the Connections tab.

d. Then click the LAN Settings button.

e. Then Uncheck the option which reads” Use a proxy server for your LAN” ****f. Click apply and then ok.

Method 4: Perform clean boot and check.

a) Press the ‘Windows + R’ key on the keyboard.

b) In the ‘Run’ windows type ’MSCONFIG’ and click ‘Ok’.

c) On the ‘General’ tab, click to select the option ‘Selective startup’, and then click to clear the option Load startup items check box.

d) On the ‘Services’ tab, click to select the ‘Hide all Microsoft services’ check box, and then click ‘Disable all’.

e) On the ‘Startup’ tab, click ‘**Open Task Manager’.**In the Task Manager window under startup tab, right click on each startup item which are enabled and select ‘**Disable’.**f) Click ‘OK’, and then click Restart.

I would suggest you to follow the step 2 from the following article to determine what is causing the problem.

How to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

Note: After you have finished troubleshooting, follow the step 3 to reset the computer to start as usual.

Method 5: Download and run the app troubleshooter and check.

I have also had this problem for a few weeks and tried all the suggestions in the forums.  I then noticed that store broker was using a lot of cpu and found this solution

STORE BROKER (WSHOST.EXE) CONSUME A LARGE AMOUNT OF CPU

by ADMIN on MARCH 30, 2014 in OSUNCATEGORIZEDWINDOWS with 9 COMMENTS

Store Broker (wshost.exe)  is a Microsoft process and should not consume more than 1% of CPU. After installing Windows it consume a low ammount of CPU but after that you install application Store Broker (wshost.exe process) may take a large ammount of CPU, so I will try to give you a trick to solve this problem.

WHY CAUSE STORE BROKER HIGHT CPU USSAGE?

The process look like:

![](http://howtofix.pro/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/store-broker-high-cpu-usage.jpg)

Usually problem is caused by:

  • after installing some applications;
  • maybe Kaspersky Antivirus???

HOW TO FIX HIGH CPU USAGE BY STORE BROKER:

Open Task Manager (CTRL + Shift + ESC) >> Go to Processes tab and then kill StoreandStore Brokersprocesses:

  1. Right-Click on Store process >> End Task;
  2. Right-Click on Store Brokers >> End Task;

Then you have to go to:

C:\Users\(Your User Account)\AppData\Local\Packages\WinStore_xxxxxxxxxxxxx\LocalState

xxxxxxxxxxxxx = a random string – it is different to another pc;

  1. Rename folder called Cache into CacheOld.
  2. Create an empty folder with name Cache

That’s all. If you want to revert changes just delete Cache and Rename CacheOld into Cache.

CONCLUSIONS:

This method to resolve Store Broker (wshost.exe) high CPU usage will not affect in any way Store or installing and using application from Windows 8 Store.

PS: Tested on windows 8.1 but should work on any other version like Windows 8.

PS2: Credits to google, microsoft forums;

Now my store works fine.

It's something fonts related.

Coincidentally someone else has just claimed that registering actxprxy.dll  is a fix...

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w8itprogeneral/thread/9ba1bd2a-6c5f-4839-bbd7-e5714ce702c0#a59d517c-5059-4cfc-b657-f96fac432cbc

Also claimed that there was a duplicate post here but I couldn't find it (not that that would be conclusive proof that it doesn't exist).

    what we need for now is a way to fix PC Settings and the Windows Store when clicking on them causes them simply to flash but not launch.

    @ Natalie

    Care to open your own thread with your own details?   Sounds like you understand your problem but haven't found a workaround yet.   However, if it is just a question of trying the new user workaround, I doubt that you need to use PC Settings to do that.  In fact, I suspect there may even be a PowerShell method of doing that and if there is it might have the generality that you require.    ; )

    Hmm...  apparently creating a new user can be as simple as entering the   net user   command.   Who knew?   ;  )

    So basically, Microsoft could cure a lot of headaches (at least for upgraders, or people like me that did a clean install but changed the default location for ProgramData and their User Folders during install) if they devised a "Fix-It" that allowed people to enter the new drive letter for program data and/or the users folders (from C: to D: - for example, as was my case)  and the Fix-IT would run a script that deleted the old junctions and created new junctions.

    Microsoft truly needs to wake up and realize that with the increasing commonality of (small) SSD drives, more and more people are wanting/needing to relocate the space-hogging ProgramData and User Folders, and that there should also be an option to choose the drive location for Program Files and Program Files (x86).  You shouldn't have to be an IT expert or go to a Geek site for risky back door ways to do any of this.  It should be options that any normal end user can select as part of the install or upgrade process.  PERIOD.

    Having these folders on a second partition or drive is also smart because it means messing with the OS partition doesn't eat your settings and User data.  Microsoft, you need to stop giving us what you THINK we want (the interface formerly known as Metro) and start giving us what we WANT and NEED - ownership and control over file and folder locations when configuring our system.

    Since Windows 8 is clearly fragile and temperamental, what we need for now is a way to fix PC Settings and the Windows Store when clicking on them causes them simply to flash but not launch.  WHY isn't there some kind of "reinstall" option?  Oh, and BTW, when the Windows Store is broken like that, the WSRESET.exe errors out, so PLEASE stop suggesting it as a fix!

    What's sad is, I actually LIKE Windows 8 (with Classic Start installed), and I don't even care that much if the Windows Store is broken - I can live without it.  It's the fact that whatever broke the Windows Store and Apps ALSO broke PC Settings that's the problem.  Some of the things in Control Panel now force you to go to PC Settings for system changes, and that means you are out of luck if PC Settings isn't functional.
