The title pretty much sums up my issue. I have never been able to access it since I upgraded, so I'm not sure where something went wrong. I don't really know how to go about fixing this issue, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi Ben,

I will certainly help you with this issue.

1.      What happens while you try to access windows store?

2.      Are you getting any error code or error message? If yes, what is the complete error message?

3.      Are you using a Microsoft account or local account?

Let’s follow these methods and check if it helps.

**Method 1:**Check if the date, time and time zone are set according to your time and time zone.

Follow these steps to set the date and time:

a. Press Windows key + C on your keyboard to show the Charms bar.

b. Type “Date and Time” in the charms bar search.

c. Click Change date and time button (To change the time zone click on time zone tab).

d. Click Apply and Ok to save the date and time.

Method 2: Clear the store cache and check.

a. Press "Windows key + R".

b. Type wsreset.exe and click OK.

Method 3: Disable the proxy server and check.

a. Open Internet Explorer ****b. Click Tools and then click Internet Options. ****c. Then click the Connections tab.

d. Then click the LAN Settings button.

e. Then Uncheck the option which reads” Use a proxy server for your LAN” ****f. Click apply and then ok.

Method 4: Perform clean boot and check.

a) Press the ‘Windows + R’ key on the keyboard.

b) In the ‘Run’ windows type ’MSCONFIG’ and click ‘Ok’.

c) On the ‘General’ tab, click to select the option ‘Selective startup’, and then click to clear the option Load startup items check box.

d) On the ‘Services’ tab, click to select the ‘Hide all Microsoft services’ check box, and then click ‘Disable all’.

e) On the ‘Startup’ tab, click ‘**Open Task Manager’.**In the Task Manager window under startup tab, right click on each startup item which are enabled and select ‘**Disable’.**f) Click ‘OK’, and then click Restart.

I would suggest you to follow the step 2 from the following article to determine what is causing the problem.

How to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

Note: After you have finished troubleshooting, follow the step 3 to reset the computer to start as usual.

Method 5: Download and run the app troubleshooter and check.

I have also had this problem for a few weeks and tried all the suggestions in the forums.  I then noticed that store broker was using a lot of cpu and found this solution

STORE BROKER (WSHOST.EXE) CONSUME A LARGE AMOUNT OF CPU

by ADMIN on MARCH 30, 2014 in OSUNCATEGORIZEDWINDOWS with 9 COMMENTS

Store Broker (wshost.exe)  is a Microsoft process and should not consume more than 1% of CPU. After installing Windows it consume a low ammount of CPU but after that you install application Store Broker (wshost.exe process) may take a large ammount of CPU, so I will try to give you a trick to solve this problem.

WHY CAUSE STORE BROKER HIGHT CPU USSAGE?

The process look like:

![](http://howtofix.pro/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/store-broker-high-cpu-usage.jpg)

Usually problem is caused by:

  • after installing some applications;
  • maybe Kaspersky Antivirus???

HOW TO FIX HIGH CPU USAGE BY STORE BROKER:

Open Task Manager (CTRL + Shift + ESC) >> Go to Processes tab and then kill StoreandStore Brokersprocesses:

  1. Right-Click on Store process >> End Task;
  2. Right-Click on Store Brokers >> End Task;

Then you have to go to:

C:\Users\(Your User Account)\AppData\Local\Packages\WinStore_xxxxxxxxxxxxx\LocalState

xxxxxxxxxxxxx = a random string – it is different to another pc;

  1. Rename folder called Cache into CacheOld.
  2. Create an empty folder with name Cache

That’s all. If you want to revert changes just delete Cache and Rename CacheOld into Cache.

CONCLUSIONS:

This method to resolve Store Broker (wshost.exe) high CPU usage will not affect in any way Store or installing and using application from Windows 8 Store.

PS: Tested on windows 8.1 but should work on any other version like Windows 8.

PS2: Credits to google, microsoft forums;

Now my store works fine.

It's something fonts related.

Coincidentally someone else has just claimed that registering actxprxy.dll  is a fix...

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w8itprogeneral/thread/9ba1bd2a-6c5f-4839-bbd7-e5714ce702c0#a59d517c-5059-4cfc-b657-f96fac432cbc

Also claimed that there was a duplicate post here but I couldn't find it (not that that would be conclusive proof that it doesn't exist).

FYI

Robert

    Over the River!

    Usually this error code is a permission issue, .... I suppose you have tried everything so far (antivirus etc.)

    I would suggest to check what is going on by using the Process Monitor tool. You may download it from here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx

    It is a painful procedure to pin point the root cause, but since MS is not helping us, this is our best shot.

    Once the tool is launched, deactivate capturing and clear all filters. ... So, you may want to start from the end; find the "Process Exit" event and go backwards and try to see why the app is failing.

    Regards

    Thank you @avelos156. I'll spend some time with your described process and post results. Interesting in that because of Start8 I never got to the "real" Windows8. I randomly choose Games and it hung also.

    Over the River!

    Usually this error code is a permission issue, but since the actxprxy.dll was successfully re-registered (through commands 1 and 3) you should be able to have all of your apps working. Obviously, in your case the root cause of the problem is something else.

Then, decide what app you're going to test (it should be the same problem for all your apps) and find its executable. For example let's say that you want to test TeamViewer Touch, so its executable is teamviewertouch.exe. Use this executable as a filter, allow the tool to show everything (registry access, I/O, network, etc.) then go to start screen, click on the tested app, let it do its thing, then go back to desktop, stop capturing and check the trace taken. The events captured can be a lot: It was more than 1600 events in my case! So, you may want to start from the end; find the "Process Exit" event and go backwards and try to see why the app is failing.

    Regards
