The title pretty much sums up my issue. I have never been able to access it since I upgraded, so I'm not sure where something went wrong. I don't really know how to go about fixing this issue, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi Ben,

I will certainly help you with this issue.

1.      What happens while you try to access windows store?

2.      Are you getting any error code or error message? If yes, what is the complete error message?

3.      Are you using a Microsoft account or local account?

Let’s follow these methods and check if it helps.

**Method 1:**Check if the date, time and time zone are set according to your time and time zone.

Follow these steps to set the date and time:

a. Press Windows key + C on your keyboard to show the Charms bar.

b. Type “Date and Time” in the charms bar search.

c. Click Change date and time button (To change the time zone click on time zone tab).

d. Click Apply and Ok to save the date and time.

Method 2: Clear the store cache and check.

a. Press "Windows key + R".

b. Type wsreset.exe and click OK.

Method 3: Disable the proxy server and check.

a. Open Internet Explorer ****b. Click Tools and then click Internet Options. ****c. Then click the Connections tab.

d. Then click the LAN Settings button.

e. Then Uncheck the option which reads” Use a proxy server for your LAN” ****f. Click apply and then ok.

Method 4: Perform clean boot and check.

a) Press the ‘Windows + R’ key on the keyboard.

b) In the ‘Run’ windows type ’MSCONFIG’ and click ‘Ok’.

c) On the ‘General’ tab, click to select the option ‘Selective startup’, and then click to clear the option Load startup items check box.

d) On the ‘Services’ tab, click to select the ‘Hide all Microsoft services’ check box, and then click ‘Disable all’.

e) On the ‘Startup’ tab, click ‘**Open Task Manager’.**In the Task Manager window under startup tab, right click on each startup item which are enabled and select ‘**Disable’.**f) Click ‘OK’, and then click Restart.

I would suggest you to follow the step 2 from the following article to determine what is causing the problem.

How to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

Note: After you have finished troubleshooting, follow the step 3 to reset the computer to start as usual.

Method 5: Download and run the app troubleshooter and check.

I have also had this problem for a few weeks and tried all the suggestions in the forums.  I then noticed that store broker was using a lot of cpu and found this solution

STORE BROKER (WSHOST.EXE) CONSUME A LARGE AMOUNT OF CPU

by ADMIN on MARCH 30, 2014 in OSUNCATEGORIZEDWINDOWS with 9 COMMENTS

Store Broker (wshost.exe)  is a Microsoft process and should not consume more than 1% of CPU. After installing Windows it consume a low ammount of CPU but after that you install application Store Broker (wshost.exe process) may take a large ammount of CPU, so I will try to give you a trick to solve this problem.

WHY CAUSE STORE BROKER HIGHT CPU USSAGE?

The process look like:

![](http://howtofix.pro/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/store-broker-high-cpu-usage.jpg)

Usually problem is caused by:

  • after installing some applications;
  • maybe Kaspersky Antivirus???

HOW TO FIX HIGH CPU USAGE BY STORE BROKER:

Open Task Manager (CTRL + Shift + ESC) >> Go to Processes tab and then kill StoreandStore Brokersprocesses:

  1. Right-Click on Store process >> End Task;
  2. Right-Click on Store Brokers >> End Task;

Then you have to go to:

C:\Users\(Your User Account)\AppData\Local\Packages\WinStore_xxxxxxxxxxxxx\LocalState

xxxxxxxxxxxxx = a random string – it is different to another pc;

  1. Rename folder called Cache into CacheOld.
  2. Create an empty folder with name Cache

That’s all. If you want to revert changes just delete Cache and Rename CacheOld into Cache.

CONCLUSIONS:

This method to resolve Store Broker (wshost.exe) high CPU usage will not affect in any way Store or installing and using application from Windows 8 Store.

PS: Tested on windows 8.1 but should work on any other version like Windows 8.

PS2: Credits to google, microsoft forums;

Now my store works fine.

It's something fonts related.

Coincidentally someone else has just claimed that registering actxprxy.dll  is a fix...

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w8itprogeneral/thread/9ba1bd2a-6c5f-4839-bbd7-e5714ce702c0#a59d517c-5059-4cfc-b657-f96fac432cbc

Also claimed that there was a duplicate post here but I couldn't find it (not that that would be conclusive proof that it doesn't exist).

FYI

    Thanks tomhamilton. i created the account from windows control panel the old way, and then i switched users to log into the account just created without logging out the main account and first tested the apps there then when coming back my app store was working and metro settings for the pc.

    Ok so did some more testing and now i have half of all my apps working, the other half i think are not working due to my other tests which i might still be able to fix. what i did and where i think all the problems stem from is the from the following:

    what i learned and thanks to linux for letting me bypass ntfs permissions to view into protected folders is that there are at least 2 main folders that deal with windows metro apps. the first is: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\AppRepository which seems to store the list of apps you have installed plus other things.... a sort of database you could say and as well as the appstore itself in some way. after totally screwing up my appstore which told me to refresh windows, i restored this folder from a backup and my appstore and apps started to install back after i removed some of them from the other important folder which holds almost all the app data in folder C:\Program Files\WindowsApps  which is the same path on 32bit and 64bit windows and is hidden of course. what i did wrong was empty that folder completely and i think something in there was crucial to the appstore itself to work like if the versions in this folder had to match the ones in the other folder otherwise the appstore detected it and completely stops working. also i notice there were some old versions of the apps that didnt get deleted which just took up space like 2 skype version the current one and the old one...whats that about microsoft dont we have enough with the badly cleaned temp folder? anyways, just 3 apps left and my metro apps will be fully working. i know i cheated restoring from a backup the first folder path but that means that something in there is incorrect causing the error like a bad entry.

    steve,

    good on you for the attempt.  i tried your advise, unfortunately it was not successful for me.

    if i understand correctly, i added a new account from the metro interface, users. i did not log out of my main account.

    i was successful in establishing a new account but still i cannot connect to the store or use any of the apps. no luck,

    oddly as in the other attempts with new accounts, i receive updates to the tiles. weird. so the system is functioning but only on a tile level, not on the apps.

    anyone else with ideas?
