How do I get my Google Calendar events to show in the Calendar app in Windows 8?

    That method works fine, but i have one small issue. Google only gives private address to the user calendar, but the birthday calendar does not give any address or any option to download that calendar. So i cannot import it with outlook calendar.

    Another method i tried was imported contacts from google to outlook account. Those contacts had birthdays noted in them which was visible in outlook too. but the calendar never got updated. 

    How do i add contact birthdays on the outlook calendar???

    That part of the instructions are rubbish:

    1. Sign into Outlook.com
    2. Click the drop down arrow next to the Outlook.com logo
    3. Click Calendar
    4. Click Import
    5. Now you can follow steps 6 and 7 above. Namely:

    6. Tap or click Subscribe.7. Paste the URL you’d copied earlier inCalendar URL, add a name for this calendar, and tap or click Subscribe to calendar.

    Can we have a Google Calendar app for the Windows 8 desktop please?

    Google provided a free Calendar app which connects with Outlook on the Windows desktop. Otherwise that would really be the job of Google to create.

    Incorrect, it was Google who completely killed both EAS and CalDAV. There is now only Google proprietary API. Who knows how long will that one last.

    Google aren't stopping CalDAV support until September (in other words it should've been included in these round of updates!) and EAS support on Windows Phone in July (not sure why Windows 8 was excluded). True though CalDAV support would only be a short term solution.

    EAS for "existing" connections is still being allowed, until "Microsoft" decided to boot them all off with the latest version of the app. They've even all but admitted it here:

    Compare the different wording for the old vs. new versions of the apps.

    It doesn't even mention you can add a read only Google Calendar feed (which isn't as much use as it could be because Microsoft update the feed so infrequently).

    I even took the time to read what was new about each app in the Windows Store. Nowhere does it mention the changes that have been made for Google services.

    In other words: If you use Google Services DO NOT upgrade. I wish I hadn't :-(
