Hello,
On the earlier operating systems the date and clock would be in the lower right hand side. The new windows 8 doesn't have that, the date and clock appear for a little bit. I must have the date and clock show at all times when I am on the computer. Weather in websites or otherwise. I searched topics and didn't appear to be a solution.
I must have it, if it is not an option, then someone at Microsoft windows needs to figure this out.

maybe a billion people have been glancing down to the right and checking the time for a decade. Many trillions of times users have checked the time within an instant. anything more than a glance is a step backward.
Asking a user to "hover" is simply annoying. Yes it is only a couple of seconds, but that is a hundred times longer and makes keeping an eye on a clock a task that requires me to stop typing and do something else.

Having the clock always on display in the upper right corner of the desktop is very useful. Right now I want to take a screen shot of an application and also include a clock with the date and time. That seems very difficult now without getting a huge screen shot and then drawing an arrow pointing down to the little clock in the lower right corner.
It seems the philosophy driving Windows 8.1 is that the tablet platform is the future and Desktop/Laptops are legacy interfaces that do not merit development time. That being said, I would like to see the work flow of a Microsoft developer. I doubt they are touching their screens all the time or doing all their work from a tablet. They probably have custom versions of Windows 8.1 that are tweaked to work much more like Windows 7.

I too had the same problem earlier, and I figured out that if you're using small icons on the task bar then the date wont show, only time will. If you still want to see the date and time together, right click on the task bar and unlock the task bar. Then drag the task bar 1 step up and date will show. But working like that is pretty annoying, so an easier way to do this is, right click on the task bar---> properties---> uncheck Use small task bar buttons. This is the only way I found out it works, but the big icons look goofy and stuff. If you're still not satisfied, follow the link below and down load the pack, its the same as the Win 7 gadgets. And have your calendar and other items visible at all times. Good luck.
