how do you make the clock and date always visible in windows 8?

Please take back to the programmers that this is unacceptable.  Most people need to have a clock on the monitor so they don't forget appointments, meetings, classes, dates, schedules, events, etc.  I'm shocked that Microsoft would design a mail format that didn't take into account how humans function.  Even a smartphone with apps (and admit it, that's why MS redesigned Windows this way) has a clock that appears at all times because smartphone makers understand this.  Why MS would suddenly decide that we are not a time-driven lot is bizarre.  

I'm guessing one head programmer doesn't like clocks, and he pushed his value on this redesign.  Whoever that was needs to be reassigned to somewhere where he won't muck up your products like this anymore.

And yes, I'm pissed.

I totally agree with Carmen  - this is crazy not to have this feature.  I never wear a watch or have a clock in my office because all I'd have to do is look down to the right of the screen.  Will windows 10 be any better?

    I too had the same problem earlier, and I figured out that if you're using small icons on the task bar then the date wont show, only time will. If you still want to see the date and time together, right click on the task bar and unlock the task bar. Then drag the task bar 1 step up and date will show. But working like that is pretty annoying, so an easier way to do this is, right click on the task bar---> properties---> uncheck Use small task bar buttons. This is the only way I found out it works, but the big icons look goofy and stuff. If you're still not satisfied, follow the link below and down load the pack, its the same as the Win 7 gadgets. And have your calendar and other items visible at all times. Good luck.

Yes, this software works great and you can have multiple analog clocks, calendars, etc ON the desktop.  I have one set for local time, one for west coast and one for east coast.  It helps to remind me to call at the right time with JUST a glance (those others that say "hover" or anything like that just doesn't understand another's way of thinking I guess) .  The only problem I have found is compatibility with my poker software which is streamed (Pure play.com) which seems to conflict with this "app" or "gadget" or what ever it is and keeps me from being able to log in to my site.  I am guessing, it (the gadgets) is using the same channel or bandwidth so I have not used it anymore and have had to uninstalled it. 

If Pure play or some other site (I imagine doesn't conflict (flash player?) I think this software will solve most users problem and need for a desk top clock(s)

However for me I am still waiting!  SOOOOO I'm still waiting for Microsoft to realize and bring back the old Analog/or Digital clock ON THE DESKTOP!
