Copy and Paste Feature Not Working in Windows 8

Hi,

This is probably the wrong forum to post this question in. But I am running a Windows 8 Pro 64bit machine, and I am experiencing problems with the Copy, Cut and Paste feature in windows explorer, where I try to copy a directory or file from one location to another but it does not work. I do have permission rights. Is this a bug in the operating system?

    removal of Outlook won;t work either as my machine doesn't have outlook active.

    The issue is whether you have Office and its Clipboard extension installed.   Mentioning Outlook was just a way of validating the idea for that particular response.

    Copy Paste does all the things described above.

    Have run Win8 since launch with no problem.   This started 3 weeks ago.

    Have tried all the fixes at tremendous cost of time and energy and hassle.

    (including re-install and IE10 reset)

    Given the age of this thread,  I am very frustrated Microsoft has not diagnosed and patched.

    Note:  The windows reload was a horrible pita.

    Then I reloaded Chrome and everything came back set up and working in less than a minute.

    Get a clue Microsoft.

    Just bought a brand new Window 8 computer.  Fresh out of the box and Copy & Paste do not work.

    Why is this not international news!  No wonder the government is shutdown!

    I am also having the same issue.  I did the cmd sfc/scannow and it found corrupt files that it was unable to repair.  I created a new user account and the copy/paste function worked in that but of course if I delete my old user account I will lose programs I have installed.  Again with the refresh option I will lose these programs.

    If I choose to refresh or switch to a new user account, and then reinstall my lost programs, will the same problem eventually happen again?  I believe I lost the copy/paste function after a Windows 8 update.  Once this update comes around again, will the problem just return?

    Please let me know if it's worth going through the trouble.

    I found that when I

    1. Copy (Ctrl+C) a URL/text from 'Firefox' (Place any application there - App1)
    2. Close App1
    3. Open Internet Explorer (Place any application there - App2)

    4. Paste (Ctrl+V) a URL/text... my clipboard is empty.

    Seems windows is attempting to keep copied items in context of the application they were copied from... not a global reference.
