Copy and Paste Feature Not Working in Windows 8

Hi,

This is probably the wrong forum to post this question in. But I am running a Windows 8 Pro 64bit machine, and I am experiencing problems with the Copy, Cut and Paste feature in windows explorer, where I try to copy a directory or file from one location to another but it does not work. I do have permission rights. Is this a bug in the operating system?

First of all I'd check to see if its the systems fault or if it's the Keyboards.

    1. Open up Control Panel, click Ease Of Access, then Ease Of Access Centre.
    2. Now select 'Start On Screen Keyboard which can be found with the 3 other disability aided tools towards the top of the window.
    3. Highlight any text on a program, then with your mouse click on the 'Ctrl' button and then 'C' on the On-Screen Keyboard. Open up any area that allows to paste, and perform the same process with 'V'.
    4. If it works and pastes the highlighted text then the problem lies with the keyboard. If not, then its a system issue.

Try right-clicking with the file selected and copying it, then pasting it in a different location.  Also try CTRL-C (Copy) CTRL-V (Paste).  These both work for me; actually, I have to backup this way because the File History doesn't work.

Some of the replies here make suggestions to alleviate one of the most basic computer functions since their inception. An oversight that needs to be rectified within windows 8 asap. It will be interesting to see how long before a fix is implemented as its impossible to process any formal request, typical in todays society.

Be very very careful doing backups, because your files will not copy back and forward because of this very issue. Lets hope microsoft get some of these intrinsic "features" fixed before they worry about any more of the useless glitz associated with version 8

I am using Windows 8 on my new laptop. Copy and Paste stopped working for me, as well.  If I try to C&P parts of an instant message (AIM), only a small portion of what I want to copy is actually copied. Sometimes, nothing at all is copied.  This issue occurs both when I use right-click "Select all/copy" and right-click "Paste", or whether I highlight and then do control-C, control-V.  Same thing happens via both methods when I try to copy from a Word document, to Paste into an email.

Today, I tried to C&P several lines into an email and what was actually pasted into my email was a smiley face-- which was NOT anything that I had copied! wtf??
