Copy and Paste Feature Not Working in Windows 8

Hi,

This is probably the wrong forum to post this question in. But I am running a Windows 8 Pro 64bit machine, and I am experiencing problems with the Copy, Cut and Paste feature in windows explorer, where I try to copy a directory or file from one location to another but it does not work. I do have permission rights. Is this a bug in the operating system?

    This is a reply to anyone still having trouble with copy/paste.

    Have you checked your Virus protection settings? I found I had change the settings in Webroot (the virus protection I installed) to give access to each of my different applications so I could use Copy/Paste. I have Windows 8.1.

    I thought it was a Windows problem but it is actually related to Webroot in my case. I am sure there are others who posted on this thread that they had the same problem with different virus protections.

    If anyone has Webroot "Secure Anywhere" just disable the "Identity Shield" and you'll have your copy-paste functionality back.  This one was driving me crazy and I found it through trial and error.  To disable Identity Shield:

    1. Open up the Webroot interface
    2. Click on "Identity Protection" on the right
    3. Turn off identity shield (and probably phishing shield too)
    4. Save the changes by confirming the captcha-ish dialog.

    Since installation I cannot copy and paste to desktop or file folders only to a word doc

    The problem still happens on my Windows 8.1 laptop.

    The frustration expressed by StevenDCA on May 7, 2015 is very accurate.

    No one has the time to fix this problem on their own.

    It's the responsibility of Microsoft to fix this.

    Unfortunately, as a software developer, I can no longer recommend any Microsoft OS to my customers.

    My programming house is, right now, even as I type this, redeveloping our software to run on Linux.

    We're all finished with Microsoft.
