Copy and Paste Feature Not Working in Windows 8

Hi,

This is probably the wrong forum to post this question in. But I am running a Windows 8 Pro 64bit machine, and I am experiencing problems with the Copy, Cut and Paste feature in windows explorer, where I try to copy a directory or file from one location to another but it does not work. I do have permission rights. Is this a bug in the operating system?

I tried the SFC /scannow option and the message returned is as follows :-

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not supported in online servicing scenarios.

    What do I do now?

Why is windows 8 so unstable. I have used this system for barely a month now.

If I could  copy and paste something from an email to a folder I could have PLez scan it and play it to my TV.  I take dance lessons (Swing actually-fun) anyway he sends us a video that when I paste what he sends for example::::

    it plays on You Tube.

If I could get this You Tube link into a file I could find a way to either download it or someway to play it on my TV  (Another example I have Plex)  it's a web based app that allow syou to play videos on you TV screen.  This would be extremely helpful in learning those fast paced steps.

Did you have to transcribe all those?  (Otherwise it seems you can use Copy and Paste.)   In here in order to make them into links all you need to do is add a space.  It may be that the same option is available in your E-mail client.  For your convenience I have added a space to each one and left them hopefully available for you to use.

If I could  copy and paste something from an email to a folder

More generally and possibly on-topic in here, what is your problem there?   E.g. what happens if you just press Ctrl-a, Ctrl-c  and then switch to an new Notepad window where you would do a Ctrl-v.

What are the steps to take after your method 1 is implemented?

Mine says 'Resource did not find anything intriguing"  And nary a paste option to be found when I try to paste it to a new folder I made on my desktop.

I had no idea that other people were having this problem.  If I could  copy and paste something from an email to a folder I could have PLez scan it and play it to my TV.  I take dance lessons (Swing actually-fun) anyway he sends us a video that when I paste what he sends for example::::

Thanks for the prompt response.  I don't use that feature so that wouldn't be my problem, but I do have OneNote on my computer.  Can you tell me how to find out if this "system tray app" is open?

I meant to share also that I got a hold of a microsoft rep and he cleared all my temp files (I wasn't aware they even existed or that they needed to be deleted).  After that my problem disappeared for the most part.  Now and then it acts up and I reboot and seem to be fine.  He said to keep those temp files cleared and I will going forward!

Firstly I'm going to take an educated guess and say you don't know what the system tray is? Would I be right? :)

I'm writing this assuming you are using Windows 8.1 in Desktop mode, the familiar Windows interface that has been around for decades now, and not the Metro UI or tablet mode or whatever they are calling it.

Down in the bottom right hand corner of your screen, to the left of the date and time you will see some icons. These icons are programs running in your "system tray". Click the little white triangle in the System Tray and you will be able to see all the programs running in your system tray. Try and find the Onenote icon and close it by right clicking it and choosing the appropriate menu option.

    That should do it.
