Copy and Paste Feature Not Working in Windows 8

Since i got my new Dell laptop with win 8, the cut and paste using the mouse works on the second copy, on 1st copy when i paste nothing gets pasted so i go again, copy and it works second time. I noticed it works 1st time if i used CTRL C and V. Never had this issue with previous windows..

Me again, actually i noticed the following, when i cut / or copy and then go start MS Word and paste nothing gets pasted, when i copy again and paste it works. If i opened MS Word 1st, then go copy and paste it works fine from all applications 1st time, is this normal, or there is a setting where it keeps copied stuff available to all applications?

I have no use for the initial Start environment, that also shows when pressing the Windows key on the keyboard

Did you use your Start Menu in XP (or W7)?  Customize it?  You could just leave it empty and use it only for its Search.   Menu, CursorLeft, Enter, Ctrl--  is pretty cool I think.  Remember, this is a "discoverable" OS UI--so no documentation required and no documentation or tutorials provided.

How are you doing that copy?  FWIW in some circumstances Ctrl-c doesn't work, so I use the Menu key instead.

There is a compatibility switch in Options, Advanced tab for things like that:

I just bought a new notebook equipped with an Intel core i7, 12 GB RAM, and Windows 8 (standard). Coming from XP Pro, it took me a little while for me to get used to the new user interface. But after a week or so, I feel comfortable using Windows 8. I must say, though, that I have no use for the initial Start environment, that also shows when pressing the Windows key on the keyboard (let alone starting any of the offered applications in that environment).

I have experienced two problems with Windows 8 so far.

   1.  The first one is related to the copy and paste function. One of the first things I did was to install my MS Office 2010 from CDs. Now, every time I want to attach a file to a message, and I copy the subdirectory path from Windows Explorer and try to paste by pressing press Ctrl-V to paste the path, it pastes nothing. I have to go back to Windows Explorer and copy the path, and then move back to MS Outlook to past the path in the browse page, in order to attach a file to a message.

  2.   The other problem is with the crashing of the Internet Explorer once in a while, probably when watching a movie on youtube or something like that. Windows 8 terminates IE and presents a message "Internet Explorer has stopped working. A problema caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program...". Below that message, it shows another message "Display driver stop responding and was recovered. Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 307.64 stopped responding....".

Other than that, I think I can live with the new Windows 8.

The shortcuts using CTRL C and CTRL V does not seem to work art all.  Super Annoying.  The only way I  am able to copy and paste between different apps is to do it the old fashion way, Highlight what you want to copy, right click on mouse or your touchpad, in the scroll down menu select copy.  Then open the right click again when you are at the location where you want to past and select PASTE..  So far I haven't had any problems with this, but MS need to fix this.  The keyboard short cuts are much easier to use.  Hope this works.
