Copy and Paste Feature Not Working in Windows 8

Hi,

This is probably the wrong forum to post this question in. But I am running a Windows 8 Pro 64bit machine, and I am experiencing problems with the Copy, Cut and Paste feature in windows explorer, where I try to copy a directory or file from one location to another but it does not work. I do have permission rights. Is this a bug in the operating system?

Me Too, my wife just bought an ultrabook with Winows 8 - Terrible OS!

Simple copy and paste from web pages doesn't work, to get a start menu you have download a third party app and the UI is almost unusable.

I think Microsoft was in such a rush to cash in on touch screen that they did not care if it works or not and where is the support here they've instructed to "refresh windows" why? its brand new with all current updates now what  just except that its not going to work?

All users know how to use WINDOWS and simple functions like copy & paste are the bread and butter of computing and now most if these functions don't work or are hidden in a way so you cannot find them.

And with all these changes where is the tutorial so we can find the functions we are familiar with?

Thanks Microsoft I'll be sticking with Win 7 on my own computer until google brings out an OS and finishes you guys off for good!

I am having the same problem! It is getting quite frustrating not being able to copy and paste anything. Windows 8 has been horrible and on top of everything it is extremely hard to navigate and use. The older versions were MUCH better! Please help with the copy and paste issue. I already scanned the computer with the Windows+X feature and it said nothing was wrong.

    Hi Vinod,

Thanks for your help, but I did a clean install after discovering that I could not use my mouse, keyboard or wifi upon rebooting. Now I have the OS in EN-GB (my native language), and everything runs much more smoothly.

    Peter

It seems after some research that the very basic computer requirement of copying files has been rather overlooked by windows 8, despite the hype based on the windows 8 testing it was probably assumed after all these years that the copying procedure would of course work successfully. After purchasing a new computer with windows 8 I can't copy my backed up files to my new pc. Even subdirectory by subdirectory copying fails to copy all files and folders. Multiple explorer windows helps a little copying but still doesn't come close to completion. If it wasn't for the fact I purchased a touch screen to allow the kids to take advantage of touch technology I would be uninstalling windows and 8 and revert to the previous version which seems to be about the only decent version since xp days. I seriously hope Microsoft manage to produce some updates for this very basic feature sooner rather than later, but after contacting windows support and being referred to my computer manufacturer, I feel more disappointed than usual with windows. Just lucky I didn't assume my backup files copied ok. Lets all hope windows fixes all of the windows 8 issues ASAP
