Copy and Paste Feature Not Working in Windows 8

Hi,

This is probably the wrong forum to post this question in. But I am running a Windows 8 Pro 64bit machine, and I am experiencing problems with the Copy, Cut and Paste feature in windows explorer, where I try to copy a directory or file from one location to another but it does not work. I do have permission rights. Is this a bug in the operating system?

    So I have windows 8 PRO no Outlook and I have Windows Defender...the cut and paste has never worked on my machine, is there a fix for this config? They should have never stopped supporting XP!

    ************ RESOLVED **************

    All you have to do is disable "Send to Bluetooth" Add on running under some of the Microsoft Office application. Most of the times you will find it under Add on in outlook.

    This seemed to work for me.  I'll know tomorrow but I've tested it a couple of times and things seem to be okay once I disabled the bluetooth addin.  Thanks Sooooooo much.  Jim

    hello 

    when ever i go to refresh it it says some files are missing your windows installation or recovery media will provide it what to do next please help

    This fixed my problem. Thanks to Ken for posting it. I've spent hours cussing out MS and Windows8 over the past year and the answer was soooo simple. But until now nobody had mentioned that Webroot could be the cause.

    I did have to find more info at the Webroot community because I couldn't find the exact location in the settings that I needed to change. For anyone else who wants to try changing this setting here is what worked for me (Win8, 64bit, Webroot Secure Anywhere Internet Security Plus)

    1. Open Webroot as Admin user.
    2. Click Identity Protection properties (gear icon).
    3. Click Application Protection tab. You should see a list of applications and each is assigned one of three radio buttons: Protect, Allow or Deny.
    4. Look for the application that does not allow you to cut/copy/paste. If it's set to "Deny" you won't be able to use cut/copy/paste. I trust my application so I changed that app to "Allow".

    I found a couple of other applications I wanted to allow full access and some that I left alone.

    There is a topic in Webroot's online help titled "Managing protected applications." You can read up on it so you can make the best decision for yourselves.

    Reposting this in case some of the newer posters didn't see it. Have you verified it isn't your virus protection? In Ken's case as well as mine it was Webroot, a virus protection we use. It has settings to block "sharing data" where you can select the applications to block. In our case the applications we wanted to use with copy/paste were some of the ones that were blocked. Even if you don't use Webroot your security may have options like that.

    ive even tried the sf/scannow thing, it took forever to do this and it did not show what percentage of it had scanned, just said please wait - 3 hours laters i switched the pc off)

    since then what did happen it that it allowed some program to allow pop ups (appeared on every website i visited) but thankfully i managed to disable them.
