Copy and Paste Feature Not Working in Windows 8

Hi,

This is probably the wrong forum to post this question in. But I am running a Windows 8 Pro 64bit machine, and I am experiencing problems with the Copy, Cut and Paste feature in windows explorer, where I try to copy a directory or file from one location to another but it does not work. I do have permission rights. Is this a bug in the operating system?

    I also am unable to copy or cut & paste from emails or websites.  The only time it works is went I created a Word doc and using copy/cut & paste within the document.  How could MS not have such a simple every day feature work in Windows 8?  Help?  Suggestions please.

    Hi Peter,

    Thank you for choosing to post your question in the Microsoft forums.

    You are unable to copy/paste files in Windows 8, I understand the inconvenience.

    Method 1:

    This issue may occur if the System files are corrupted I would suggest that you run the SFC scan. Follow the steps.

    a.       Press the ‘Windows + X’ key on the keyboard.

    Select Command Prompt (Admin)

    b.      In the Command prompt window, type**"sfc /scannow"**

    Method 2:

    Refresh Windows 8 and check. Follow the steps.

    a.       Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings.

    b.      (If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.)

    c.       Under PC settings, tap or click General.

    d.      Under Refresh your PC without affecting your files, tap or click Get started.

    e.      Follow the instructions on the screen.

    Note:

    The apps that came with your PC or you installed from Windows Store will be reinstalled, but any apps you installed from other websites and DVDs will be removed. You'll find a list of the removed apps on your desktop after refreshing your PC.

    If the issue persists then let us know and we will provide more methods.

    Since i got my new Dell laptop with win 8, the cut and paste using the mouse works on the second copy, on 1st copy when i paste nothing gets pasted so i go again, copy and it works second time. I noticed it works 1st time if i used CTRL C and V. Never had this issue with previous windows..

    I'm having similar problems but with straightforward copy and paste. Sometimes does not pick up newly copied text but instead remembers the original only. I have lost newly written but not saved sections from my thesis because of this.

    Have had other problems too, thinking of going back to 7 or maybe Linux. I think MS has lost the plot with this OS....
