Original Title: Nothing will download in Windows 8?
I'm not sure whats causing this, but NOTHING will download in windows 8. Not apps, or things i download on the internet. It will start the download and then it will say, "The download was interrupted." I've tried a clean boot, but that didn't help. Any ideas as to what is causing this?

I fixed my problem by dumping IE as a browser and switching to Firefox. It was the only thing of all the suggestions here, from Norton, from MS, from all my geeky friends that worked.
Thanks BetsyAB but I tried switching to Mozilla/Firefox too and still can't download. I hate to spend the $200 for Geek Squad but that's looking like what I may to do.
I have been trying for months to download google chrome. now I cant even get icloud to download. it goes to file or does nothing at all. When I have gotten google chrome to finally download it just opens with tabs. it is not a page to enter information or a request. Also the google chrome button does not respond. I tried opening it else where that didn't work. And now this new thing of not downloading at anything at all. I had mcafee and things started to go down hill when I purchased that. I uninstalled, but hasn't seemed to help. will take any help!!! thanks!!
This weekend, just before I was going to spend $200 on the Geek Squad, I tried a fresh new Windows 8 install from the disk. I clicked on "keep personal files" and then during the install, was asked if I wanted to update Windows 8. I clicked yes. Finally, after weeks of trying everything, the software works and I now can download. I do have to boot up twice to get the system to work though and that's pretty crazy.
I am also unable to download anything through IE10. Also I am not able to get my Microsoft ID recognized, so I can't download anything from the Store either. (the ID works fine to log into Outlook through the web interface, and on my Nokia 920, so I know the account credentials are sound.)
I just upgraded from win7pro to win8 and then immediately to win8.1. Things were OK with win8, but now, an utter mess. File Explorer on the desktop side keeps crashing, my touch screen no longer works, and this inability to download anything makes all these issues impossible to fix!
I have no anti virus software to disable. I've reset my firewall to defaults. I've checked active X settings in IE10/desktop side, run the sfc scan, and checked the system time, All for naught.
I have a program that I run with Silverlight and never had a problem before I downloaded 8. It keeps telling me my browser doesn't support it. It gave me suggestions, I tried Mozilla, I tried sarfari, I tried internet explorer and nothing is working.
I then went to the control panel like it was suggested, but I couldn't find internet connections and whatever I troubleshoot, surprise, it always finds nothing.
HELP.. I AM SOOO SORRY I GOT THIS COMPUTER..
