Can't download anything on Windows 8

Original Title: Nothing will download in Windows 8?

I'm not sure whats causing this, but NOTHING will download in windows 8. Not apps, or things i download on the internet. It will start the download and then it will say, "The download was interrupted." I've tried a clean boot, but that didn't help. Any ideas as to what is causing this?

    Hi,

     

    I seem to be experiencing the exact same problem. I cannot download ANYTHING at all. I have just bought a brand new laptop with windows 8 and one of the main things I wanted was to be able to do was to be able to access iTunes as I have both an iPad and an iPod.

     

    Nothing is wrong with my internet connection and as this is a brand new laptop I have done nothing to it. I have Norton security but I have tried disabling that and it didn't make a difference.

     

    If you could provide some answers it would be great as I am a bit disappointed that so far I seem to have wasted the money spent on this laptop!!!

    Same here, I bought brand new ultrabook from Bestbuy and made by Asus. Tried to download simple apps but failed all the time.

    I have windows 8, no MacAfee (Norton instead) and do not have the Administrator access setting in my computer (followed the Youtube vid direction)  Not sure why there is no users/admin selection...incomplete system download?  It came from Best Buy preloaded.

    I was able to download and open email attachments previously but had an update recently that killed that capability.  I have not been able to since.  The previous download dialog box (narrow strip at bottom) has disappeared and I get a new one (square at top) that is very different in appearance.  I select save and it does nothing.  On exe files, it never asks if I want to run, it only offers save.

    I can download in SAFE mode but not in standard mode. , I have restored to a previous setting twice, run Malwarebyte and Norton..nothing is helping.  I want my old capability back.  Please advise.

    Same exact problems that I've had with ALL downloads.  I've re-installed WINDOWS 8 twice.  I've switched to Kaspersky security and then back to McAfee because Kaspersky was even worse!  Very exasperating.  The laptop is a Dell Inspiron 17 and it has a new hard drive, but downloads just do not work.  Microsoft is no help at all.

    I fixed my problem by dumping IE as a browser and switching to Firefox.  It was the only thing of all the suggestions here, from Norton, from MS, from all my geeky friends that worked.
