Can't download anything on Windows 8

Original Title: Nothing will download in Windows 8?

I'm not sure whats causing this, but NOTHING will download in windows 8. Not apps, or things i download on the internet. It will start the download and then it will say, "The download was interrupted." I've tried a clean boot, but that didn't help. Any ideas as to what is causing this?

    PLEASE HELP ME MICROSOFT 

    I have windows 8 and whenever i download something, it either says I have an internet problem or an error.And i cant download windows 8.1. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I'm Windows 8.1 RTM, I can't download anything either while I can surf the internet and play online games. something is very wrong here. Please solve my problems, I've done everything possible. Reformatting the hard disk, run malware cleaners, everything even tried everything single browser for a way. Still no answers even from a tech line friend.

    I had the same more or with less as the rest of you , Click on a download link and nothing happen.

    Windows 8.1 64bit and all updates currant then bam nothing happening with download links anywhere on the web. I think my MS updates were still working but no links from major geeks-softpedia-cnet, etc.

    I found a work around by downloading Eagleget on another PC and transferring it to this PC, eagleget is a FREE download manager.

    I do have to right click on a link now and choose "download with Eagleget" from the right click menu.

    Which I think it is really suppose to take over all your downloads automatically without having to do this manually.

    At least I'm not dead in the water on downloads now.

    I used to have a very similar problem as everyone. I bought a completely new Lenovo Y510p laptop including Windows 8 and I couldn't download anything, not from Windows or Origin games or even open some sites. 

    After some digging, I figured out my computer had automatically activated "Use a proxy Server" under "Network Settings" and I had absolutely no chance in turning it off, it automatically kept turning back on.

    I figured that that could not have been any issue with the computer but possibly a virus so I downloaded "Malware Bytes" and just ran a "Hyper Scan" which may fall under subscribed users but you get a free trial; it found around 200 issues with my computer and I wasn't in the mood to pick good/bad ones out because the chances are they're mostly bad and I probably don't understand half of the things that are picked there, so I just Quarantined everything and Fixed the issues then restarted my computer, went back into Network settings - Proxy, turned off the proxy and everything went well.

    Every link is opening, everything is downloading, and all my games are working fine.

    I hope this may fix the issue as it did for me.
