I have to agree with the people who replied to this thread its NOT microsofts computer Its mine I bought it and the high handed we know best attitude wrapped up in PR replies to this thread from the company does not wash just because one of your people decides
they know best does not mean they do and no doubt you will have had focus groups and all sorts trying to second guess what the customers like.....
The answer is very simple its all down to features and benefits did anyone ask the fundamental question
DID ANYONE ASK FOR THIS FUNCTION ?
if not really then its going to cause problems as something you don't want is added using up resources and randomly appearing same with all the other features
I do not NEED a feature that snaps every screen full size if I move it near the top or side
I do not NEED a feature that blurs the windows behind the open one so I cannot see what is there
I do not NEED rounded corners on all the windows and boxes I find such things pointless and make reading the screens difficult so I have to increase the brightness to clearly see them
I do not NEED scrolling that is so slow when trying to highlight a long passage because it must scan every character instead of inferring the line if you pass it.
all these things are "pretty" but get in the way of working I had a windows 95 computer which until recently I still used for work simply because it was basic did what I wanted and did not go wrong I like windows 7 as it has the same aethos I just hope the
styling and marketing is reduced and the engineering is improved at microsoft. My background is pre PC computer engineering partly with ONTEL ask Bill Gates about Ontel he wrote Basic2 for the OP1 in the early 70's when he was a poor geek that was 64K Ram
...... at around $8000 ....... so great things were possible in smaller machines if you used your mind
