You think you have troubles with a desktop and mouse, wait until you need a laptop and the choice for any decent speed and capabilities is Win 8 and touchscreen, with touchpad!!!! I can't believe Win 8!!! Like Vista on Steroids -- someone must have thought
it out with both hands to make the most unpopular (deservedly, clumsy, cumbersome, counterproductive) OS ever devised even more of the above and as impossible as possible to configure in any way.
I've supposedly disabled the corner callup for the "Charm(less)" Bar but in the browser it seems almost any movement of cursor or finger on touchpad calls the idiotic thing up, so the (even more idiotic) clock is in one's face on one side of the screen, the
useless & redundant bar on the other, the cursor is frozen until the equivalent of several mouse clicks vanishes the thing. Someone evidentl thought it would be cute to remind us of charms and charms class in Harry Potter -- I wish there were a charm to vanish
the Charms (sic) bar permanently!
I really think the answer would be to bite the bullet and see how much an additional license for my Win 7 (on my desktop, thank goodness) would cost, and if I can see my way to spring for it, wipe the new laptop and install Win 7.
BUT as I don't see myself facing that in the near future, thank you so much for the stardock suggestion and link!!!
