Actually, I believe in order to be a beta tester for Microsoft, you have to not work for them. Heh
I believe anyone can be a beta tester for Microsoft products. I believe you have to go to connect.microsoft.com in order to sign up for available product testing and feedback ability.
By the same logic you used, no one could say with certainty that Microsoft doesn't listen to their customers. Personally I can see they must listen at some level, or some of the things they have done with Windows 8 through the 8.1 and 8.1 Update in April
would not have been done.
I have not seen any evidence that Drew1903 was managing the forums in any way.
I'm unsure where the impression that Drew1903 called anyone 'stupid' came from. I could have missed it in the response, but it sounded like Drew1903 was expressing an opinion on the OS as well as an opinion on how others may have come to their opinions/conclusions.
I'd say Drew1903 may have worded some things in ways that could be construed as confrontational by some, but I did not take it that way.
Having been involved in conversations like this for over a decade, I think what one reads into something has as much to do with their own attitude about said subject as the comment does in many cases. If someone has a complete opposite view, one might read
into the comments as if they were attacking them personally.
Most of the long time responders in these forums, especially those that were around long before the forums themselves even existed, just wanna help people get the most out of what they have. There's not much they can do about changing the operating system
anyway. Just offering alternatives and methods that give the people what they want out of the operating system. Many times using features built-in but not well documented.
