    Hi,

Thank you for choosing Windows 8 and giving us an opportunity to assist you.

As per the description of the issue you get error DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION when you play any game. I appreciate the steps which you have applied to resolve the issue.

Let me ask you few questions.

    1. Is the issue confined to any particular game?
    2. Which game are you playing?
    3. What is the make and model of your computer

We have found that you are facing this issue due to btfilter.sys, hal.dll, ntoskrnl.exe and others.

Follow the troubleshooting methods given here to resolve the issue.

A btfilter.sys file should only be located in the Windows\system32 folder of your pc as this is the default path where this file is designed to execute from. Unfortunately, some of the undetected spyware may be responsible for the btfilter.sys errors occurring on your computer by placing a file with the similar name. Moreover, an uninstall of a program that has been performed incorrectly or incompletely may also lead to the btfilter.sys errors.

Method 1: Temporarily disable NOD32 Antivirus and scan your computer with Microsoft Defender Offline.

Step 1: Disable antivirus software or any security software installed on your computer temporarily.

Warning: Security software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Step 2: Scan and Run Windows Defender Offline.

Windows Defender Offline can help remove such hard to find malicious and potentially unwanted programs using definitions that recognize threats. Definitions are files that provide an encyclopedia of potential software threats. Follow the steps given in the link here. Download the appropriate file depending upon the bit version of your computer.

    What is Windows Defender Offline?

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/what-is-windows-defender-offline

Important: While scanning the hard drive if any bad sectors are found, the scanner tries to repair that sector, any data available on that might be lost.

The file is ntoskrnl.exe, and it's a core operating system file. If it's corrupt or missing you have a major problem. Quite often though, this error is a symptom of a different problem. You stated that you made no recent changes to hardware/software, but have you accounted for driver updates and updates to programs like your antivirus software? There is also the possibility that you may be experiencing a hardware failure, this is not uncommon in a new system.

Method 2: Let us perform Automatic repair and check if the issue is resolved.

Follow the steps to perform automatic repair:

    a. Boot the computer using the Windows 8 bootable DVD.

    b. On theInstall Now screen click on Repair your computer.

    c. You will then see a blue screen and an option to choose.

    d. Click on Advanced Options and then click on Troubleshoot.

    e. Click on Automatic Repair and follow the prompted instructions.

Method 3: Uninstall the drivers from device manager and install from the Manufacturer’s website.

Follow the steps given here to uninstall the drivers from the device manager.

    a) Press Windows key + X key when you are at desktop.

    b) Select Device Manager.

    c) Find and double-click driver from the left panel to uninstall

    d) Right-click the device, and click Uninstall.

You can download and install the drivers from the link given here.

Hi, thank you for your Answer.

    1. Is the issue confined to any particular game?

No, it was random in time and games. Thats why i posted all minidumps.

    1. Which game are you playing?

World of Tanks, WarThunder, DOTA2 (Steam), Far cry 3 and some others.

    1. What is the make and model of your computer

    Asus N56vz  -  15.6'' (1920x1080) LED / Intel Core i7-3630QM (2.4 GGz) / RAM 16 GB / SSD OCZ Vector 512 GB / nVidia GeForce GT 650M, 4GB / DVD Super Multi / LAN / Wi-Fi / Bluetooth / Windows 8 Single Version Edition 64bit

A btfilter.sys file should only be located in the Windows\system32

    yes, it is only there.

Method 1: Temporarily disable NOD32 Antivirus and scan your computer with Microsoft Defender Offline.

Step 1: Disable antivirus software or any security software installed on your computer temporarily.

    I have totaly uninstaled it.

Step 2: Scan and Run Windows Defender Offline.

I've updated it and scaned PC. No malware were found. After i installed Bitdefender free edition and it didn't find any viruses too.

Method 2: Let us perform Automatic repair and check if the issue is resolved.

I don't have such DVD. I cloned Original HDD to SSD Ocz Vector. I used Macrium software. I checked the ssd and windows latter like SOwtware and SSD vendor told me and everything was correct.

Can i download such DVD somewhere or create it?

Method 3: Uninstall the drivers from device manager and install from the Manufacturer’s website.

You can download and install the drivers from the link given here.

    http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=N56VZ&os=30

I did so before only official latest drivers. And for Nvidia i installed latest driver from nvidia.com

Also i have unistalled dokan.dll (It was needed for one mod for World of Tanks)  It don't support Windows 8 and caused BSOD only ntfs_filesystem_error So about this error i know the cause. after uninstalling this dll and mod i didn't have this error(ntfs_filesystem_error). In almoust all other BSODs was ntoskrnl.exe reported.

SInce yesterday i didn't have  DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION i will continue observing. If what i will post here. Or maybe you have some more advises :)

    Thank you, cya later.

    Roman

driver verified and Related to btfilter.sys Windows (R) Win 7 DDK driver from Atheros.  I would re-install the newest driver available.

I would also run a system file check and update the below drivers

    ASMMAP64.sys    7/2/2009 5:13:26 AM

    dokan.sys    1/10/2011 8:49:29 AM

To do this type cmd in search,  right click to run as administrator, then type

SFC /SCANNOW   (note the space between SFC_/scannow)

It may need to be run up to three times before successful

Let us know the results from the report at the end
