So lets try this and see if it helps.
Hard Reset using buttons:
Press and hold the Camera + Volume Down + Power until the phone vibrates. Then release the Power key and keep pressing the Camera + Volume Down for a few seconds.

My Nokia Lumia 920 shows the lightning bolt and gear icon. does not start and is frozen on that icon.

A HAD SAME PROBLEM TOOK OUT MEMORY CARD ATTACHED TO LAPTOP AND PRESSED VOLUME <DOWN> AND POWER BUTTON AND IT CAME ON

I wish u guys broke the discontinued of Microsoft mobile from pakistan and re launch something like lumia 1020 camera with win 10 and physical qwerty keyboard like nokia communicator or portable laptop

2019-10-16T03:57:12+00:00 I had the same issue with the lightening bolt and gear icon on my Lumia 950. I removed the battery for an hour, reinstalled the battery, powered it on and it is working as before without losing any data. I do not know what caused the original issue
