A HAD SAME PROBLEM TOOK OUT MEMORY CARD ATTACHED TO LAPTOP AND PRESSED VOLUME <DOWN> AND POWER BUTTON AND IT CAME ON
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I had spent a whole day puzzled by this. My screen went from turning cogs (or gears) to a single cog with lightening bolt, but never booted up.
That is until I followed your steps a few times. Whilst the phone was in a spinning cog episode, I followed the hard reset buttons:
"Press and hold the Camera + Volume Down + Power until the phone vibrates. Then release the Power key and keep pressing the Camera + Volume Down for a few seconds."
It took a couple of attempts, but eventually after a few minutes of cog spinning it rebooted to the Windows splash screen! The phone was plugged in and charging.
I was so close to attempting to send it back to Nokia. You saved me a lot of hastle.
After a couple of tries of resetting the phone it would just go to the black nokia screen then a solid blue screen was still under warranty so i sent it back and got a new one. happy to have my nokia back
