lighting bolt and gear icon

My Nokia Lumia 920 shows the lightning bolt and gear icon. does not start and is frozen on that icon.

So lets try this and see if it helps.

Hard Reset using buttons:

Press and hold the Camera + Volume Down + Power until the phone vibrates. Then release the Power key and keep pressing the Camera + Volume Down for a few seconds.

A HAD SAME PROBLEM TOOK OUT MEMORY CARD ATTACHED TO LAPTOP AND PRESSED VOLUME <DOWN> AND POWER BUTTON AND IT CAME ON

    Although this works, the reset requires you to do a fresh setup. The back up helps, but it would be ideal if you didn't have to reestablish all the live tiles, effectively the personalization

    Ok, here is one for you all.

    What do you do it if the reason you are resetting your phone (via settings, phone reset) is because vibrate stopped working!! How long should I hold for?

    Stuck at the cogs.

    Nokia told me to try this step, and now I have a duff phone. Cheers chaps
