lighting bolt and gear icon

My Nokia Lumia 920 shows the lightning bolt and gear icon. does not start and is frozen on that icon.

So lets try this and see if it helps.

Hard Reset using buttons:

Press and hold the Camera + Volume Down + Power until the phone vibrates. Then release the Power key and keep pressing the Camera + Volume Down for a few seconds.

A HAD SAME PROBLEM TOOK OUT MEMORY CARD ATTACHED TO LAPTOP AND PRESSED VOLUME <DOWN> AND POWER BUTTON AND IT CAME ON

    Your answer helped me a lot! Everything is working fine after the hard reset, but the problem is that the volume buttons are stuck. The volume bar is being permanently displayed on the screen and phone's volume is full. I tried to decrease the volume, but in vain. Moreover, when I press the back key, its not functioning due to the volume bar popped up. I'm really disappointed after such response of my windows phone. Please help me out as soon as possible :(
