Service Pack 2 for Office 2010 update fail - Error 8024002D

Hello,

I can't install this update, apparently because it is looking for something called "SingleImageWW.msi" and not finding it.

Manually download and install the SP2 :-

http://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=39667 (32 bit)

http://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=39647 (64 bit)

If unsure of whether or not you're running 32 bit or 64 bit, refer to this thread:

If you still have trouble, try updating in a clean boot state:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135/en-au (don't forget to return to normal boot when finished).

Office updates can fail if the update files are looking for the original installation files.

Sometimes downloading the full file remedies that problem or putting the installation media in the installation drive can also assist.

If still failing, perhaps you'll need to perform a repair install.

    Hi Gerry,

    I, also am having major headaches with this error code. I have an eMachines E730 which had Windows 7 Premium installed ,at the factory I assume, and I purchased Office Home and Student 2010 on the advice of the salesperson. I feel I am somewhat accomplished using this tool, although I'd surely never say I know what I'm doing. I have viewed https://support.microsoft.com/kb/958041 and I have the following statements to offer for your consideration.

    1/. Resolution Method 1 advises that....

          "the version of Windows that is currently installed may check whether the Windows installation files exist in the original file location. For example, if you installed Windows by using a DVD on your computer's drive D, Windows may check whether the installation files still exist in that location. If the installation files no longer exist, you may receive the error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section."

       I believe that if I then reload the disc with Office 2010 on it it should fix this. I believe the requested file is stored there. Well, in fact no. It seems there is a listing on the disc. I tried to give you the entire disc file index here, however it seems that I cannot copy/paste  it here. I am no star at this I assure you. Gerry, I am frustrated and have no idea............... Any tips.

    2/. Resolution Method 2 advises that....

    "If you encounter the error that is described in the "Symptoms" section when you try to install a service pack or update for an Office program, click one of the following Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article numbers, as appropriate for the version of Office that you have installed:

    946691 You receive an error message when you try to install the 2007 Microsoft Office suite Service Pack 1

    903772 You receive an "Error 80070643" error message when you try to update Office 2003 by using Software Update Services" 

    This is completely irrelevant to me. Not being rude, but really, no doubt. Where the "F" is the 2010 Update?

    3/. Resolution Method 3 advises that....

    "Enable Microsoft Installer Logging and Windows Update Verbose Logging

    To start troubleshooting this problem, enable Microsoft Installer Logging and Windows Update Verbose Logging. After you do this, try to install the updates again. If the process fails, the Microsoft Installer and Windows Update log files will contain the Windows Installer error codes. After the log files are created, contact Microsoft Customer Support Services (CSS) to troubleshoot the problem." 

    Mate! Are you bloody serious?!?! I'm giving it a shot now. If it works you have my most sincere and humble apologies. After reading some of the other frustrated Owners, note capitalization, I have no faith in it.... Oh Woe is Me!!!

    Me again! I note with some trepidation the above post from PCFixerGuy, also I went and tried to install again and see this is a 32-bit edition. Is this the problem? I mean, my system tells me it is a 64-bit.

    Try repairing Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010 .

    Select Start , Control Panel, Programs and Features. Place the cursor on Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010 , right click and select Change. Click Repair and Continue. When it completes restart your computer.

    You do not need to install a 64 bit version of Microsoft Office on a computer with a 64 bit version of Windows 7 installed. I have a 32 bit version of Office 2010 on a computer with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit installed. No problems.
