Service Pack 2 for Office 2010 update fail - Error 8024002D

Hello,

I can't install this update, apparently because it is looking for something called "SingleImageWW.msi" and not finding it.

Manually download and install the SP2 :-

http://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=39667 (32 bit)

http://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=39647 (64 bit)

If unsure of whether or not you're running 32 bit or 64 bit, refer to this thread:

If you still have trouble, try updating in a clean boot state:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135/en-au (don't forget to return to normal boot when finished).

Office updates can fail if the update files are looking for the original installation files.

Sometimes downloading the full file remedies that problem or putting the installation media in the installation drive can also assist.

If still failing, perhaps you'll need to perform a repair install.

    You have TrueMove H hi-speed connection which is a file sharing service. Does it work? If it does not work I would uninstall.

    Try repairing Microsoft Office 2010.

    Select Start , Control Panel, Programs and Features. Place the cursor on Microsoft Office 2010, right click and select Change. Click Repair and Continue. When it completes restart your computer

    Select Start, All Programs, Windows Update, Change Settings. Under Important Updates is a box showing the current setting. Click on the Arrow down to the right and change the selection to “Check for Updates but let me choose whether to download and install them” and click on OK.

    Select Start, All Programs, Windows Update, Check for Updates. Check the boxes before the updates you want to install, click on Install and click again on Install in the next window and the process of installing starts. You should let the process proceed without interruption. Multi-tasking at the time updating is in progress is unwise. The progress window will tell you what is going on. You need to be patient.

    Hi Gerry,

    Yes, I use a USB 'air card' supplied by TrueMove to access my internet service.  I works for that.  I'm not sure about the file sharing you mentioned.

    I tried the first suggestion above, but didn't get very far. The repair process started, but soon came up with a window saying "Setup cannot find Office.en-us\ShellUI.MST.  Browse to a valid installation source, and then click OK."

    I had no idea where to 'browse' so the process halted.

    How do I fix this?

    On my computer ShellUI.MST is to be found in two locations:

    C:\Windows\Installer{90140000-002A-0000-1000-0000000FF1CE}

    C:\Windows\Installer{90140000-003D-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}

    Do you have the file at these locations?

    If not there you will find a copy on your Office 2010 DVD at:

    D:\x64 and at

    D:\x86

    When you put your DVD in the DVD drive you want to search for files not run setup.exe.

    Hi Gerry,

    -I looked in C:\Windows\  but didn't find 'Installer'...

    -All the options I tried in browsing C:\Windows\  came up with 'invalid file'

    -I am temporarily separated from my Office discs, but will try your second solution when I get back to them.
