Service Pack 2 for Office 2010 update fail - Error 8024002D

I have had the same problems as described above so I've provided links to the three logs that Gerry requested.  They were not created in safe mode.

Any suggestions?

I searched the registry for SingleImageWW.msi figuring it's being told to look for that file from there. First thing it found was within a key called: 00004109D30000000100000000F01FEC in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products. Also found it here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\

I searched the registry for that key and there are several locations pointing to it. I renamed that key under classes_root and added _old to the end of it. (Doesn't matter what you add, just works as a flag for me.) It renamed the same key under HKLM\Software\Classes\Installer\Products automatically (linked, I guess) Searched the registry further for SingleImageWW.msi. No where else to be found.

Re-ran the SP2 installer. Went right through. Did not take very long at all. Checked my office version in Word and it tells me I'm at 14.0.7106.5003. I believe it went so quickly because most of the files were already updated, it just needed to validate the install and could not without finding SingleImageWW.msi.

Let me add, I used the installer file for SP2. I did not use windows update to go through this troubleshooting. After running through the install successfully, Windows Update had it cached in there still waiting to install SP2. I let it run through and WU said it installed successfully. Checked for updates again, More office 2010 updates were ready to come in. Well, just one. Office 2010 File Validation. Oh great.... Thought that was going to cause an issue. Nope, installed just fine as well...

Checked for updates again. ****... Office 2010 File Validation... and Office 2010 SP2 is in the list but unchecked. OK let's reboot. *facepalm* Microsoft Motto: When I doubt, Reboot! Still shows up in the list, figured I would turn off Microsoft Update and just use Windows Update. Well... Now I can't figure out how to turn Microsoft Update back on and I'm too tired to go any further.

Would someone want to try renaming that registry key and trying the install from Windows update instead?

For those who are having problems with this and are trying to do a repair install from a downloaded .EXE file (instead of .ISO or DVD), the installer suffers from Alzheimer's.  It simply cannot remember where it extracted the files used to install (or repair) Office 2010, so you will need to search C:\Users<username>\Local\Temp for the directory where it extracted the files and point to that (the uppermost directory, not where the specific file it says it can't find resides).  Once you do this, the repair install should work and you should then be able to apply SP2 to the resulting repaired installation.

I re-installed MS Office 2010 from the original DVD and the update worked perfectly.
