Hello,

I can't install this update, apparently because it is looking for something called "SingleImageWW.msi" and not finding it.

See images below....

Manually download and install the SP2 :-

http://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=39667 (32 bit)

http://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=39647 (64 bit)

If unsure of whether or not you're running 32 bit or 64 bit, refer to this thread:

http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/043198a3-e2a0-45b5-85a4-2aa4abb5cc82/how-to-determine-if-user-has-office-2010-32-bit-vs-64

If you still have trouble, try updating in a clean boot state:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135/en-au (don't forget to return to normal boot when finished).

Office updates can fail if the update files are looking for the original installation files.

Sometimes downloading the full file remedies that problem or putting the installation media in the installation drive can also assist.

If still failing, perhaps you'll need to perform a repair install.

    Hi Gerry,

Yes, I use a USB 'air card' supplied by TrueMove to access my internet service.  I works for that.  I'm not sure about the file sharing you mentioned.

I tried the first suggestion above, but didn't get very far. The repair process started, but soon came up with a window saying "Setup cannot find Office.en-us\ShellUI.MST.  Browse to a valid installation source, and then click OK."

I had no idea where to 'browse' so the process halted.

    How do I fix this?

You have TrueMove H hi-speed connection which is a file sharing service. Does it work? If it does not work I would uninstall.

    Try repairing Microsoft Office 2010.

Select Start , Control Panel, Programs and Features. Place the cursor on Microsoft Office 2010, right click and select Change. Click Repair and Continue. When it completes restart your computer

Select Start, All Programs, Windows Update, Change Settings. Under Important Updates is a box showing the current setting. Click on the Arrow down to the right and change the selection to “Check for Updates but let me choose whether to download and install them” and click on OK.

Select Start, All Programs, Windows Update, Check for Updates. Check the boxes before the updates you want to install, click on Install and click again on Install in the next window and the process of installing starts. You should let the process proceed without interruption. Multi-tasking at the time updating is in progress is unwise. The progress window will tell you what is going on. You need to be patient.

Before tackling your update problem you need to resolve some system errors.

Click on the Start button and select Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. Locate UPnP Device Host in the list. Check that the StartUp type is Manual. If it is not set to Manual right click and select Properties, General tab. There is a box after StartUp type. The options are available on a drop down by clicking on the arrow down to the right of the box. Make the change and click on Apply and OK. Click the Start button to check that the service can be started.

Click on the Start button and select Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. Locate Distributed Transaction Coordinator in the list.

Locate Windows Time in the list.

Restart your computer, wait 30 minutes and then provide a fresh copy of your System Information file. Type System Information in the Search Box above the start Button and press the ENTER key (alternative is Select Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Information). Select File, Export and give the file a name noting where it is located. Do not place the cursor within the body of the report before exporting the file. The system creates a new System Information file each time system information is accessed. You need to allow a minute or two for the file to be fully populated before exporting a copy. Please upload to your Sky Drive, share with everyone and post a link here. Reports in normal mode preferred. Please say if the report has been obtained in safe mode.

Please upload and share with everyone fresh copies of your System and Application logs from your Event Viewer to your Sky Drive and post a link here. You can remove the earlier copies of the logs from your Sky Drive.

To access the System log select Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer, from the list in the left side of the window expand Windows Logs and select System. Place the cursor on System, select Action from the Menu and Save All Events as (the default evtx file type) and give the file a name. Do the same for the Applications log. Do not provide filtered files. Do not clear logs whilst you have a continuing problem.
